We had the tasting menu with wine pairing - some of the dishes are amazing however the clam and vongoles were not prepared correctly and were full of grit and even shell; not what I expect at this type of restaurant. This aside the overall experience was very good, the service is amazing with a small army of waiters and sommeliers on hand. Whilst this could be overwhelming they do a brilliant job not to disturb the general flow of the meal. Next time we are in Lima I would come back and try the a la carte which seemed to be enticing the other guests in the room

From our booking, initial impression on arrival, ambiance of the room, servers & most importantly the food I would say a rating of 6 (out of 5) would be appropriate!!! To describe the attention to detail of the facility & service is easy. It’s the very best. Nothing left to chance. Absolutely perfect. The food & wine pairing is much harder to describe. The tasting menu we had was complex with varied ingredients from all around the extremely varied country of Peru. With ingredients from the mountains, the grasslands, the ocean & the jungle, the diversity of tastes was extreme & so, so exquisite!! The choice of wines (& beer & cocktails) to accompany the 16 (yes 16) courses were perfect!! I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed our experience! Yes it’s expensive, but not unduly so. The true value of such an experience makes the price very reasonable. If you have the opportunity to visit & experience Astrid & Gastón, ‘GO FOR IT!!’. By far the best culinary experience ever!! Amazing!!

I have made it a point to visit as many of the restaurants on The World's Best list. While the food was amazing and the ambiance absolutely gorgeous, the service was surprising lacking for a restaurant of this caliber. At one point, waiters were literally running into each other. The cocktails were not nearly as amazing as the food. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, trusting that the service was a fluke and knowing how delicious the food was. Everybody has a bad night, right? And they must be doing something right to be named #13 in the world.

Expensive resto with great reviews but we were disappointed. It's in an old mansion that's quite impressive upon entering but the dining area we were seated in was underwhelming, almost cafeteria- like. A restaurant of this high standard should have fine cutlery and tableclothes. Service was average...our water glass was never refilled unless requested. The wine list was overpriced. The wine sommelier recommended wine by the glass and then served us one priced at 69 soles (21US)/glass which was not that good. Food portions are pricey and small. Ceviche was OK but not great. Forget the cuy...dry and crunchy, Presentation was good but food not memorable. We asked about the food ingredients' sources and the wait staff didn't know for sure. Expect to spend $2-300US+ per couple.

I absolutely loved lunch at Astrid y Gaston! My friend and I arrived a little before the restaurant opened, and were escorted to a spacious waiting area. Once the restaurant opened, and we were seated, the entire experience was marvelous. I didn't feel rushed. The waiter was helpful in providing dish recommendations for my friend's food allergies. The food was delicious! Given the caliber of the restaurant, service, and food, I think the pricing is fair.

I had heard a lot about this restaurant before actually making the reservation to go, and I'm so glad i did! The experience was to die for! I decided to take myself out for my birthday, treat myself to a nice dinner for one and i couldn't have chosen a better place to go. I was able to call and make a reservation for their tasting menu (definitely recommend with the drink pairing) At the time I was practicing Spanish so, my waiters took the time to helped me practice by first slowly reciting in Spanish and then in English. The food was exceptional and spoke to the traditional ingredients used in Peruvian cuisine with a modern twist, the plating just as picturesque as the restaurant itself. The service was outstanding i didn't feel rushed and they were very attentive, making sure i was enjoying my meal at all times. The restaurant itself is very elegant with a vertical garden along a few walls, and an exposed kitchen so you can watch them cook right in front of you. At the end, for my birthday they brought me a gift, an alpaca bag with some postcards inside of the regions and ingredients used in the food. As they brought me the check they brought out a box containing a variety of chocolates! i was able to pick as many as I'd like. They also allowed me to buy a bottle of wine from the tasting menu. it was a little pricey but worth it to go once in your life, maybe even twice!

The moment you arrive, you know you are going to have a special experience. The historical structure in which the restaurant is housed is antiquated but tasteful decorated with modern touches. Eye catching and inviting. The service was impeccable. The knowledgeable servers and sommeliers expertly shared details (in English!) of the regional ingredients and culinary processes. One cocktail was named after a Peruvian mythical creature, and the sommelier shared that interesting story. I had an unfiltered wine made in animal skins per tradition. Very unique. The courses were very sea-focused in the tasting menu, which served my palate beyond well. From the pizzette to la tibia de chocolate, it was evident how much culinary talent and artistry was behind the finished product. One of the most special notes of the evening was when I was leaving, and A parking attendant walked with me to ensure I got into the correct Uber upon exit. That extra touch for my security was rare and so welcome. Start to finish, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in my life. Likely, the best I have had in recent years. Also, it is well priced for the amount of flavor and skill and hospitality you will experience. Grateful that this outfit exists and that I decided to go.

A few of my closest friends and I visited Astrid & Gaston and we had a fabulous time. The architecture, atmosphere and service were up to part and level of reputation that precedes Gaston’s brands. The highlights included the Roasted Duck Taco that was a Peruvian version of the Peking Duck with crepes...just beautifully executed. The Rice with Duck was also delicious and generous to share with the group, and Beef Tongue Anticuchos were simply tasty and tender in every bite. Highly recommend the experience and can’t wait to return.

The four of us—all foodies-shared a set of 8 appetizers. We each had a wonderful spiced, very light duck taco followed by sets of two appetizers-served sequentially. The tiradito was wonderful and the ceviche’s were spiced in an interesting unique manner, the tongue was wonderful as was the octopus. All in all, one could have had a dinner with the large number of starters one could pick from. The entrees we had were very good. The suckling pig was prepared superbly as was the whole fish Each were prepared in an excellent manner. This was followed by a set of all the desserts. The chocolate desserts—served in a shell of chocolate with excellent nips around the dish was wonderful as were the others. There was not a preparation we did not like. We had started with excellent pisco sours followed by two red wines—chilled to our desired temperature. The service was very good as was the ambience.

My husband and I somewhat randomly picked Astrid & Gaston for our New Year’s eve experience in Lima. Originally we we were only given the bar option, but we got lucky that there was a last minute cancellation and I couldn’t be happier about that. The food, the service and the experience were the best we had in Peru! Every single person from the staff was super friendly, moving with a purpose and super helpful. Even thought they were jam packed for the evening our wine glasses were always full and there always was food in front of us. The food was spectacular. Peruvian food at another level. They started us off with assortment of bread and bread sticks. All of them were delicious but the quinoa focaccia was my favorite. Had great texture. Then we were served the snacks - guinea pig rillettes, clam, 2 different causas and tartlet with squash and mushrooms. Every bite was so good! The main courses were amazing too, my personal favorite was the succulent pork. Never have I ever tasted pig with crispier skin. The main courses were followed by the best mint sorbet I’ve had, a true palette cleanser. The desserts not only looked like a piece of art, but were also delicious. Wow! What an amazing experience. If you are ever in Lima go to Astrid & Gaston, I am confident you will love it!

We had the degustation menu, which was, frankly, disappointing: Taste was average, plate composition uninspired. Rock bottom was hit with the „fiesta del cuy“ accompanied by overcooked yet cold tubers. The crowd around us was mostly local and seemed to have a good time, because everyone had ordered traditional plates like causa etc and bit the degustation menu. Those plates looked good, while our degustation menu was really just carelessly assembled uncreative pretense. On the other hand: If you want good traditional no nonsense Peruvian cuisine, there are plenty of places around for that at 1/8th the price. Nothing compared to other high end restaurants in Lima like Maido, Central or the really exceptional Kjolle. Wouldn’t go again

I mean the food is great, the service is good but the prices are unreal. You can pay here easy 4 times what you will pay at Paul Bocuse in Lion France for a fix degustation menu and here you will not feel full....way too expensive

We enjoyed a memorable evening on our 30th anniversary. The staff made us feel pampered and comfortably at home. The food was over the top delicious. We enjoyed an appetizer of ceviche (bonito fish) and pumpkin raviolis, stewed lamb and beans and roasted pork for the main course, lúcuma and apple pie for dessert. The flavors just burst in your mouth. We followed the sommolier´s advice and ordered a bottle of wine suited to our menu choices. The staff treated us to two glasses of champagne for our anniversary. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We were lucky enough to be able to score seats for an amazing 22 NYE 11 course fixed menu (reso’s far in advance are must regardless of the day). The restaurant also had to respond to the very abrupt country restrictions and lockdowns just a few days prior and did so very well. The food and service exceeded our expectations. We often seek stand out culinary experiences during travel and Astrid y Gaston did not disappoint.

The place is great. Housed in a beautifully restored historic building with many different rooms to dine in and full of great artwork and decoration. But when it comes to the reason why you go there you most likely will be disappointed. The food is ok but nothing special, there are many other places in Lima where you eat much better. Only some desserts surprise positively. The whole place has a money printing machine atmosphere. Very loud, unattentive service, you have to fight for some time to relax between the courses, they give you the feeling that they want to have you finished your meal as quickly as possible to have another seating.
