On short holiday and fancied taste of home, it was about 30 minutes from the hotel we were staying at. Chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan and saag palek with butter and garlic naan. Food was served quickly hot and very tasty ambiance and staff very friendly and very attentive. Masala tea and deserts were also delicious thoroughly enjoyable evening without being rushed.

every thing I order was just delicious.

We can certify that Taj Mahal hotel serves authentic Indian food 😄 After concluding the Sofia walking Tour, we found this restaurant around 300m from Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and walked in for lunch. The menu was comprehensive and service was courteous and fast. The Breads and Curries we ordered felt exactly like what we have in India! Honestly was surprised to find such authentic Indian cuisine in Sofia! Really fulfilled our cravings for Indian food 😊

I will start with the disappointment as there was unfortunately nothing positive.
Total disorganization and delay. Out of 5 tables, 4 left (we were the 4th). And the little food they served did not match the description on the menu. We tried to justify them by saying that maybe they have a lot of online orders, but at one point we felt like their chef had run away. When the waitresses were asked what was going on, they answered that they had no connection with the kitchen, the food was brought up by elevator.
We asked for the bill to go to another restaurant, but again had to wait for a refund for the food and drinks that were not served to us. This can't be the #1 foreign restaurant for 2024!!! Who hands out these grades???

I ordered food today from Taj Mahal. I wanted a simple chicken curry with rice. It took 90 minutes for the food to arrive, which was okay for me.
When I started eating and tried the chicken, I immediately noticed that it was soft cheese and not chicken. When I called the restaurant to point out this mistake, they told me to send a photo via Viber, which I did.
After 10 minutes without receiving another call, I called again to ask what was going on because I wanted the food I had ordered. The response I got was that, based on the photos, it was chicken... and if I wanted new food, I would have to pay an additional 5 leva for delivery!
When I got a bit angry because it wasn’t my fault that the restaurant delivered the wrong food, they said I would get a replacement and then just hung up! That’s not how you treat customers!

My husband and I had dinner at this Indian restaurant during our weekend in Sofia. The restaurant is located not far from the Cathedral. There are three floors where there are rooms, furnished in Indian style with strong colours. Courteous and welcoming staff. We had byriani rice with vegetables, a vegetable curry, methi aloo, plain naan, a glass of wine and natural water spending 66.75 levs, let's say that the prices are a little high if considered in Sofia. In terms of quality, we would say that it was good but not excellent as it was not very spicy and unfortunately the dishes served were not hot but rather almost cold. It's a shame because the potential is there but I don't know if I would go back both for the prices and the quality.

After repeated questions, the waitress Julia emphasized that the chicken tikka is freshly prepared and that is why we ordered it. When it arrived a few minutes later, it was completely dried out and not freshly prepared at all, but many hours ago, as the manager confirmed. We got a new chicken tikka that was exactly the same.
At the end, the waitress Julia came, said that they were closing and almost took the water glass out of my hand

Disappointed with the meal which was reheated. The nan were hard and cold. The basmati rice very well served but also reheated and the chicken with a bbq aftertaste.
If I go to a restaurant it's not to eat reheated leftovers but to eat a good dish prepared by a chef.

One of the worst Indian Restaurants I have visited in a very very long time. We ordered the shahi paneer and the dal makhani along with other items. The Shahi Paneer had so much food colour in it, we though the chef had just played Holi !!! It took a full 24 hours for the food colour to disappear from my fingers. The Dal Makhani was def one of the worst we have had till date. Very dingy and dull decor inside the restaurant. The staff were courteous and maybe the only saving grace. It is surprising how the Sofia Food / Restaurant Authorities havent shut this place as yet. The owner is completely delusional and argues all poor reviews are fake. Instead, rectify internally, focus on improving and learn to take constructive feedback. I further checked other reviews and noticed indeed many other customers also had feedback about unnecessary food colour and poor taste. Much better options in Sofia for Indian Restaurants are Saffron and Satsang. Must Try !

Ordered an order of Samosa, Rogan Josh and Garlic Naan
Food was less than mediocre and Samosa seemed to have been days back. Greasy and Samosa skin totally fell off as soon as touched.
Less said the better. Don't go by the fantastic reviews as quality of food is awful but you get all your food in 3 to 5 minutes of your order

The food was not hot enough for my taste, but arrived warm. Rice was sadly a dissapointment. Lassi was more like strawberry milkshake. i was left hungry after paying 15 leva for the very small vegetarian lentil dish. Gralic naan was very good but very thin. Too expensive for the flat experience.

Disappointed to be honest. Although we arrived late that should make no difference to the quality of the food. The nicer comments I can say are bland, flavourless, not good and this is the worst curry I’ve ever had are just a few.
We ordered the food and the waitress made it clear the chef could not alter or adapt the curries or naan. The food arrived and mine had a nice heat but the chicken wasn’t great. My friends were unimpressed.
I honestly think they wanted to close. I’ve eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants over the years and this is up there with the worst. However they’ve got cracking reviews so we must’ve been unlucky.
One of group is back over in a few weeks and is going to try again but early evening. I’m sure it’ll be a different experience.

We visit the restaurant with our kids(11 month baby, and 4y boy) the lassi we ordered had a taste of bad fermentation, and we asked if it is made form a real mango and they say yes, after we asked about the funky taste they admitted it was made from artfical juice. We also a chicken tandoori and it was very dry, looks like it was microwave heated. In addition the restaurant was dirty and thw waiter didn't know to explain about the dishes and the ingredients (for an example, if the dish is spicy or can be fitted to kids). We barely taste the food cause what we tasted was awful and we want to avoid any stomach issues. We left without paying in the first time in our life cause we decided not to pay for unediabl food. I don't know how they are rated 4+ in trip adviser.

Family of 7 traveling with all ages. We were seated promptly upstairs. Nice atmosphere. Server was a little short with us at first but then warmed up and was telling stories by the end of the meal. Food came out quickly. Not the best Indian but not the worst. Dal and butter chicken were our favorites. Some other dishes kind of tasted alike.

I place an order at 8:30 PM, it was confirmed and said will be here at 9:55 PM. The delivery come at 10:40 PM without contacting us regarding the delay or saying sorry etc.
When I open the bag main course was missing, I called the delivery guy a minute or 2 after he left, who btw was thir empolyee (not delivery company such as Foodpanda or etc.) and he didnt care and said: "I gave you what they gave me, call the office".
I called the office and explained what happened they said they will check and call us back, 5 minutes later they called. The lady was rude and said that the order was compleated and they are sure all items were there (basically telling me I`m lying) but as neither parties cant give proof of their statements the item will be added on our next order as the kitchen was already closed (normal when you take more than 2 hours to deliver it)...
I asked to be reimbursed as I wasnt happy with the service and dont want to order from them again but they said its not possible and the only way is to order again, the missing item will be added for free but as the kitchen was closed this cant be today so I was standing there with 4 side dishes and no main course.
Overall the worst experience with food delivery so far - waited more than 2 hours without notice from the company, missing main course, accused of lying and very rude staff. Wouldnt ever recommend it or order again, wondering if it even worth the trouble getting this main dish (which btw was the most expencive one 17 BGN) as I`ll have to order again and pay delivery...
