The restaurant has really good food. It really is reminescent of medieval times. No fancy plating. No fancy decor. You don't even get cutlery (unless you really insist). The mood is really quaint and it is perfect if you want to host a large-ish party but don't want to cook or do the dishes. You get a lot for your buck, so even if at first glance it appears pricey, any one platter is more than what they recommend. We had the 6 person platter, we were nine people and we could not finish it.

Great food, big portions, all in a medieval style. The restaurant is only indoor, smoking is not allowed inside. For 4 persons we ordered: A plate for 2, a schnitzel menu, a sword full of meat, an appetizer + drinks and 1 dessert - the total price was about 350 lei (and a lot of food has remained untouched) P.S. For the full medieval style experience the waiters recommended eating with bare hands, but you can also ask for cutlery

Honestly, we drove to Bucharest downtown only to go to this restaurant as we were on our way north. We like to find places that differ a bit from the others and that offer local food and drinks. We were not disappointed. The place is suitably located near all major central hotels and there is a parking lot nearby. The kids really enjoyed trying to pull out the sword from the rock and the whole decor with the swords and shields on the walls, the wooden tables, chairs and panels, the candlesticks and long curtains, all added to the medieval atmosphere. We also truly appreciated the fact that they allowed us our pet dog inside (he's well-trained and quiet and used to travelling with us). The food was delicious and despite the huge servings, we did manage to devour it all with some effort :-). As for the waitresses, they were very polite and efficient and wore the the medieval dresses one sees in films. It was cute. All in all, if you are into meat and you enjoy something different, do visit Excalibur, I think you'll enjoy it.

Good food, nice interior, slow service

This is a large restaurant with good sittings. Loved the medieval decorations inside the restaurant & the Passageway too. We had Chef’s choice that includes chicken wings, chicken liver (1 small piece only, wrapped in pork), golden potatoes, vegetables (peas, carrots & lettuces) and Steak with vegetables. The service was very slow, waited more than an hour for food. Food was delicious.

Very poor service and long waiting time

Good food and big plates. Mainly pork and beef meet with roasted veggies. We waited 35 minutes just to have the menu. Then 1 hour to have the main course. The service is very poor and the waiter asked for the tip despite the very poor service.

Shame. So much potential but really let down.

So. You enter down a path way and there’s the sword. Really qwerky. You go through the doors and it looks really good. Staff are really welcoming and the setting is great. Unfortunately that’s were it ends. We sat down after being told that we had our table for 2 hours. No problem. 45 mins later we flag the waitress over so we can place our order and were told that food is taking about an hour. Ok fair, it does look really busy and there doesn’t seem to be many waitress’s. Placed our order. 30 mins later the drinks come. We thought she had forgot. Drinks were nice. 1 hour 15 mins after ordering our food comes. My sesame chicken was that dried out it snapped in my hands. Couldn’t even bite it. I called the waitress over and asked was it supposed to be like that. She said no and asked if i would like something else and I wouldn’t have to pay for the sesame chicken. So I ordered the Excalibur sword (whole chicken), replaced really quickly. very nice but I had been waiting a really long time now. Staff have been really polite and the food that we eventually got was nice. Very long waiting times and you really have to grab the waitresses when you see them as you will be left or forgotten about. Try to book a night were it’s not too busy is my advice. Don’t think we’d come back again. Suck a shame.

Very rude and arrogant waiters

The place is really nice, there is a lot of meat and the amount of the food is insane. We ordered a plate of meat ( pork, chickens, beef) and a plate of just vegetables. After around 30 minutes they brought the meat one so we started to eat. After other 30 minutes we were still waiting the second one, my husband asked the lady and she replayed that she knew and it was coming, her face was very annoyed and she was quite rude. After 5 minutes she came back by saying that the order was not coming out, she didn’t apologise and she just asked us how we wanted to pay. Very bad experience, they have no respect for clients and are very arrogant when they realise they make a mistakes. I gave 2 because food was good but you can find the same in any restaurant that barbecue.

Very medieval England feeling

Walking in was interesting, I thought maybe it was a dinner theater, but no it was just a build up of the whole experience. The food was very good. Beware if you get a baked chicken with a souvenir sword...It is a whole chicken. I thought maybe a breast but no - a whole chicken. too much for me to eat but the cost was very low. Service was a little lethargic and disinterested but maybe because it was late on a Saturday night.

A step back in time

Excalibur is a step back in time, the medieval location, the waiters in costume, you eat with your hands (if you ask for cutlery they'll even give it to you) and it's like entering a fairytale world. Furthermore, you eat a lot, oh God the quality of all the meat and cooking is not excellent, but certainly not bad. Upon entering you go down into an underground area where a statue in armor is there to show you where you probably are, but then you find a very large location with wooden tables and chairs, ceramic mugs(?) , everything that has remained distant in time. We have an appetizer of cured meats and then, on the waitress' advice, one of the typical local dishes "La masa regelot" which was for six and we were 8, but we were unable to finish it all, a tray full of meat, vegetables and fruit of various kinds . Almost impressive. Several beers and some digestives, with a total cost of around 19 euros each

So much delicios food

Most of the menus are for one person, but I recommend them to be eaten by two people. I ate "Cina Sir Lancelot". It was amazing. It contained chicken breast, pork chop, a rib, wedges and cabbage salad. The second photo is named "Din partea bucatarului regelui": chicken wings, chicken liver in bacon, wedges and cabbage salad. I totally recommend this place. The service was fast and amazing. I also recommend Hosten draft beer.

Disaster!

Good food, though it was difficult to choose something as the menu did not match the available stuff, but the service worse than terrible - they wanted to get the tip, included that in the bill, and I had to make them change it. This was the very first time the personnel gave me a box and a bag saying 'do it yourself'. Very wrong and lazy. I do not recommend this place.

Amazing food and atmosphere

Best Romanian Food I tried💯👌👌Can only recommended. We went on trip with best friends trip and didn't have any mistake. Great beer, full, better book a table. We came Sunday evening and was full. Anyway, they found us table. Thank you all lovely people at Excalibur restaurant and keep making people happy from all atmosphere and food THANK YOU 😊

We took a mix of chicken and pork at a cost of 54 euros for 4 people with 1 wing and a mini chicken leg each and a small piece of just inedible pork fat! Lots of potatoes but to make volume....total disappointment!!!!!

Good expensive food for Bucharest but bad service

We went on a Monday in August so there was plenty of room to dine without a reservation. The nonsense of the setting is cool, but it's what makes the prices go up quite a bit. The food is delicious, with its 30-minute wait time for preparation. The waitress was very rude the entire time she served us and when paying she asked us why we didn't tip her, something unpleasant to complain about, since in Romania tipping is not mandatory.

Cool looking restaurant for anybody to visit. If you are a tourist without a plan most likely will be better to visit in the morning when there are still tables left before reservations come pouring in. Food is really nice and you will not have to eat for the rest of the day after the amount of food you eat. Staff is friendly and able to speak english good which is one of the better parts of the overall experience.
