I´ve been to this place several times with my wife, family and friends, and I have to say that this is the best place to try Nica Food. We live in Managua and each time we plan a trip to Masaya or Granada, we stop by mi viejo ranchito to have at least a quesillo (if we´re in a hurry).... More

Nicaragua is well known because its food, then you find restaurants that want to become franchises, this one did it. Therefore quality wise is not good, they want to encapsulates the cooking process in a recipe and when they have such a variety of food (yes they do) they can't control quality meaning the food doesn't taste good. I will... More

My husband and i visited this place because it was recommended. We ordered chancho con yucca. The yucca was old and hard as a rock. I then informed my waiter that perhaps additional salad could could make the yucca moist and softer. The waiter brought more salad. The chancho (pork) was dry and tough. When they brought us the bill... More

There are TWO "Mi Viejo Ranchitos" in Managua; the GEST of the two is located in "Pueblos Blanco" especially on Sunday, when they BBQ an entire hog and if arrive early enough, you get the best of the pork servings; generous portions, friendly staff, clean. There are other typical Nicaraguan dishes that will address every taste on foreign travelers.

Great food! And I really enjoy Karaoke nights on Saturday. A good environment for families to sing and share.

Nothing to see here....move along. Same exact food as every comedor/fritanga/typical restaurant. Its even in their name, comida tipico. Which isnt to say thats bad. I love typical food here. Its just that i dont understand why you would pay 10-15 dollars for it, when the same exact food is available everywhere else for the same price or cheaper. Its... More

I have eaten in Mi Viejo Ranchito many times over the years. I keep coming back because it is very consistent in food quality and service. There is lots of parking but it can be very full on weekends or holidays which can be fun people watching. There are some oversized menu selections for two or three persons to share.... More
