Travellers' Choice
2024
Opened in 2013, Dvor has become one of the best Croatian restaurants in just couple of years. Dvor features a serene and intimate environment with spectacular views of Adriatic sea and the nearby islands of Brac and Solta. The cooking philosophy is the preparation of traditional Dalmatian dishes but with a modern twist. The menu changes seasonally. In the spring and summer is more based on sea, and in the autumn and winter to the land products. The wine list is based on the Dalmatian wines and wines of other Croatian regions.
MICHELIN Guide: Good cooking
The shaded garden with its open grill and fine views is the main attraction at this beautiful restaurant on the coast overlooking the sea. The catch of the day takes pride of place on the buffet, where guests can also choose their cut of meat. An excellent selection of wine, including by the glass, completes the picture.

This restaurant has the most delightful setting - outside tables under loose tree canopies offer the most romantic ocean view. Tasteful table setting, courteous service and a lovely wine selection create a truly elegant experience. We absolutely adored the cerviche and the tuna tartare. Unfortunately the main course dishes (tuna steak and lamb chops) were not as differentiated and completely oversized. For a restaurant of this caliber we would have expected more sophisticated and balanced dishes. The waiter was friendly yet slightly frazzled during main dinner time and not helpful with any of the selections. I recommend to share a main or stick to appetizers altogether.

Dvor - Split, Croatia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tucked away along the beautiful Adriatic coastline, Dvor is an absolute gem in Split’s culinary scene. As soon as you step onto its stunning terrace, you are greeted with panoramic views of the sea, a perfect backdrop for an unforgettable meal. The ambiance is serene and elegant, blending the beauty of the Mediterranean with refined dining. For seafood lovers, Dvor offers a stellar selection of fresh, locally sourced fish and shellfish. Whether it’s the perfectly grilled sea bass, delicate octopus carpaccio, or the richly flavorful Adriatic squid, each dish is a tribute to the region’s maritime heritage. The balance of flavors and textures, paired with local Croatian wines, makes the experience exceptional. On the other hand, meat enthusiasts won’t be disappointed. The menu’s selection of meats, like the tender steak or the slow-cooked lamb, is equally impressive. The chefs here know how to bring out the best in local ingredients, treating each cut of meat with respect and care. The pairing of seasonal vegetables and house-made sauces elevates each dish to a new level. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations that enhance your experience. Whether you’re indulging in their signature dishes or a simple dessert, the level of service remains impeccable. Dvor is the kind of place you’ll want to return to, not just for its exquisite food but for the entire dining experience—luxury in a casual, welcoming setting with unbeatable views. A must-visit for anyone in Split!

We picked Dvor for my birthday meal while on holiday in Split. It was a bit of a chilly evening so we didn't quite get to see the restaurant at its romantic best as everyone was dining indoors. The waiting staff were delightful and the portions were HUGE - so even though it's not the cheapest restaurant in Split, they're great value for money! I didn't come close to finishing my main course even though it was delicious as my starter was the size of a generous main course - the waiter said that was just 'Croatia portions'! The only thing that put a downer on this meal was one particularly loud and irritating guest on another table but to be fair, the waiting staff did have words with him, which was also good.

The location was the highlight of the experience. To start, cocktails are 12-15 euros and extra for the mix (tonic). The pour is 1/2 of what we expect in the states but perhaps we drink too much. By the time they made me a decent vodka/tonic it was close to 30 E. I ordered the Duck and said i would like an Italian Red with it. Waitress (very nice) said “ would you prefer try a croatian wine”? Being polite I said I would go with her suggestion but not the 24 E and just a 14 E glass. I have tried Croatian wines and not a big fan….the wine was fair but for a 3 oz pour i was dissappinted again. I have concluded croates do not imbibe like americans, which is ok.She originally suggested the 24 E glass (3 oz) and i told her too rich for me. On to the meal….had a mixed salad which was fresh and dressed lightly in OL & V. Was also a good portion and price was reasonable. The duck was basic, no sauce and was hardly edible. Was hard to even cut it. I mentioned this and server asked if i needed to cook it more? I ate 1/3 of the duck and told her i did not want to take with as it was not edible. I suggested she tell the chef and she said she would. There was not offer to take off the bill or replace with another dish or not charge for 3 oz glass of wine. I would not recommend going here despite the “michelin” status.

Wish we could give Dvor 5 stars for every part of the evening. The food and ambiance were amazing. The service on the other hand fell short, our serve forgot about us towards the end. We did the tasting menu and paired it with wine. One of our wines showed up after we received the dish, and the server ran to get it as he forgot.. we got quick and brief descriptions of the food & wine.. At the end, we were left with no water, nothing to drink and our server was busy with a few other tables whom received better treatment as we observed. Some even got homemade rakija. We just expected better for spending $500 at a restaurant that is working hard for a Michelin Star. Disappointed.

Overall an excellent experience. The waiters recommendations were superb though there is so much on the menu that is worth sampling. Seafood is fresh from the sea, my shrimp literally were fished this morning. Wine choices are fantastic and dessert was superb. I will be coming back to this beautiful location for more delicious disges that I couldnt taste tonight.

Based on reviews across multiple sites, we were expecting excellent food, lovely views and high prices. What we found was mediocre food and really high prices, even for Split. My tuna entree was 35 EUR - it was unremarkable and way too large a serving. I specifically asked for it medium-rare "with the inside still pink". When it arrived, it was brown all the way through. Even the server agreed that it wasn't at all pink inside and returned it to the kitchen. The second attempt was cooked correctly but basically without seasoning (just grilled fish) and had two sauces on the plate that were okay, but I get way better than this at home in San Francisco, at lower price points. My husband and son both ordered the "grilled white fish" in the hopes that it would be something local and special. The server made a big production of showing them the fish, on ice, that they would be getting. It was not at all special. It was 95 EUR per kg (that's how the price was posted on the menu) and our server told us that 0.5 kg was the minimum order. That's WAY too much fish for one person. And it wasn't listed with any sauce or sides. When my husband asked about accompanying vegetables, the server offered green beans and potatoes with truffles. Which were just additional sides that he then charged us for. The green beans were squishy, overcooked and inedible. The potatoes were not interesting at all. The only dish that anyone was happy with was the tuna tartar. We did get some great advice from the sommelier when we made it clear we wanted a Croatian white, that wasn't buttery. The view was lovely for sure, but it didn't make up for the mediocre and overpriced food. Find a different location for you special dinner in Split!

This isn’t Michelin quality food . It’s overpriced for what it is . For example, I had to send the tuna back as it was overcooked , so real basic things that aren’t done well. Flavours were lacking overall. Staff were attentive and informative with some good wine recommendations. Location is pleasant, overlooking the sea. There are better eateries close by that are less pretentious and get the basics right , such as hot food, well seasoned and flavoursome at lower price.

This is the second time here and even though the last visit was over a year ago the sommelier remembered us. He simply stated it was his job to remember his clients and makes sense but I think it’s because I do love a chat with a good sommelier. The setting is just stunning and the team are great. Our waiter explained the tasting menu in such detail and it was a complex set of tastes and textures . I could have had plates and plates of the ceviche as it is the most exquisite dish i have ever had. Rather than pair the wines the sommelier made some recommendations and you can try before you buy as it can be pretty pricey but there were all amazing. It was only last night and I am craving for a return and how this doesn’t have a star is beyond me but assume it’s Michelin politics. You will need to book Enjoy

The food is so overrated. For 55 Euros I got a stew with vegetables, make mussels and squid simming in broth. Not worth the money, would never go back. However, delicious desserts, great wine and nice staff.

We arrived at 7pm and fortunately got a table. The service was amazing and Tomo was great! We realised in service that the cerviche we ordered had gin and kindly he and restaurant arranged for non gin version to cater to severe allergy. Would recommend- beautiful place, great service and incredible food!

The location overlooking the Adriatic is lovely. The food is, likewise, clever, unique in ways (as in: the ceviche included chia as well as dehydrated olives and croutons, which substantially improved the texture and visceral experience). The smoked risotto in particular is well worth it, and the wine recommendation fairly priced and surprising in a positive way. Alas, the experience was quite marred from the get go as the waiter congratulated us on my partner’s “pregnancy” (her last pregnancy was 10 years ago). Apart from this tactless move, he would not let the issue go and kept apologizing with excuses such as not wearing his glasses today. He may have meant well, but it did put a massive damper on our evening.

We came for dinner on my 30th birthday while on holiday and it was the most incredible meal. Our waiter, Tomo, was incredibly knowledgeable and guided us through the menu which led us to having the best meal we have ever had. The head sommelier suggested a beautiful Croatian Sauvignon to go with our meal and it was delicious. I cannot fault a thing. We had the beef carpaccio to start, followed by the lamb rack (which was like cutting butter!) and the duck breast and the Rum dessert to finish and every mouthful was an explosion of flavour! Can’t recommend this restaurant enough - the view is just the icing on the cake!

If you are immune to mosquitoes and wasps, you can dine here. Immediately after sitting down, my party was bitten by mosquitoes. I saw other diners swatting and scratching. The staff did bring bug spray. If you are looking for a romantic dinner, keep in mind the swimmers at the beach here are very loud with screaming children. Upside: the lamb chops were very tender, tasty and a generously-sized portion. The wasps enjoyed them particularly. Downside: skip their fish stew. Ours had two types of fish one of which had a fish tank taste. For over $100, very disappointing. Also most fish dishes in Croatia are priced by weight, and the portion was way too much for two. We sat on the lower terrace and the upper terrace has a greener vibe and string lights.

I was with a group of friends for dinner. The tuna was good and tasty. I ordered a risotto with prawns which made my stomach hurt. Something was wrong with the risotto. The shrimp were old, who knows how long they were frozen, for the price of 95 euros I expected fresh shrimp. the dessert was perfect in Split, I haven't tried better cakes. it's worth coming for the cakes even though they are expensive, my recommendation, dinner for 3 people cost 350 euros,
