Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As it stands, the website still shows the menu from when the restaurant was awarded its Michelin seal of approval. However, between booking an eating, we bumped into my local kayaking tour guide, who thankfully warned us that the head chef had recently left acrimoniously...just days before. Upon presentation of the menu, it was evident that this was true because various amendments had radically simplified it. Sadly, the prices have yet to reflect these changes. While the food was not awful, it certainly did not reflect the high expectations of a Michelin-rated restaurant. I ordered a medium rare steak as the more exciting options were rendered unfeasible. I expected it, as many would, to be sizzling hot while retaining its red juices while being full of favour - something I've become accustomed from both family roasts and eating Hawksmoor in London. Sadly, the steak was lukewarm and lacked the flavour-packed juices. To compensate, the gravy was too overpowering, and the last-minute use of flaked sea salt hurriedly placed on it at the end was a desperate attempt to detract from such a glaring issue. It reminded me of an unfinished Masterchef entry. I was almost compelled to barge into the kitchen and correct the situation by seasoning it with the foraged wild herbs I'd picked from my walk earlier that afternoon! Instead, I exercised restraint and adhered to the stereotype of "polite" Britishness. (When Brits are polite, they are generally engaging in a form of DoubleSpeak) I hate to be this scathing, but chefs work hard to earn their Michelin status. Customers likewise will expect an experience that reflects this. On the plus side, the venue has an excellent ambience in the evening, and our waiter was attentive. He cheerfully engaged with us and other clients in various languages to accommodate their mother tongue language, making them feel at home and relaxed. Hopefully, the restaurant will pull through and return to its accoladed status soon. It would be nice to come back to Pula and visit again. This venue has much promise, and losing what the staff worked hard to achieve would be a shame. It is somewhat surreal because we took a punt at one of the "worst-rated" restaurants in Pula just days earlier. It had come under new management, with recent reviews all five stars. It served us a fantastic meal with local beer for less than 15 euros. It makes me wonder if the chef in question decided to relocate there out of spite to prove a point!More

Dining here felt like discovering a secret haven for seafood lovers in Banjole. TAVERN BATELINA BANJOLE – FRESH FISH IN A DISH One of the best fish taverns in Istria is located in Banjole. An ideal example of a combination of local gastronomic offers and a nice ambiance. Arrival at the tavern was announced in advance and a...table was waiting for us on the terrace. We offer freshly caught fish and seafood. The offer for starters includes a colorful range of fish, including sardines, flounder, octopus, shark, and sardines, all dosed and presented by a friendly waiter. After the starter, we tasted homemade shrimp ravioli in bisque and grilled scallops. For the very end, we took grilled mixed fish from “orada” to “trilja”. Recommended for all fish lovers and people who like to treat their palates to local delicacies. Tip: try the desserts because they are all nice and there is a wide selection.More

I see why you must book 3 weeks in advance. All food was really good and tasty apart of scampi, (small ones which we ate raw they were local and really fresh, but grilled one were not sourced locally) Very relax atmosphere and service Aim...for enclosed part of the restaurant, they have ceiling fans, outside on terrace you are on mercy of the weather conditions. Pricewise, very gentle for your budget There was no menu shown to us (not that I complain about it), so if you wish to see menu ask. Also there is no dedicated parking space for this restaurant, you will need to search around to find a spotMore

It was a very pleasant evening and very good food. I'm not sure it completely lived up to the hype for all of us. It was delicious for sure, but I'm not sure we would have driven again from Rovinj just to eat there. The...cold fish appetizers were delicious and unique. I felt like I could have gotten the same whole fish entree at a number of places we ate at on the trip. Again it was very very good, but so are many restaurants in Croatia that have fresh caught fish. The back story of the family going fishing in the morning and serving it up in the evening is also a unique experience. We didn't get a pasta course and only one glass of wine each and it was about €45 each in June 2023.More

Fantastic fish only restaurant! We had the cold ceviche starters followed by fresh scorpion fish, accompanied by local white wine. Fabulous fresh seafood and obviously a local favourite.

Correct fish restaurant however with limited offer, below the expectation dish-ware and service. Expected much more from chef Skoko especially in the creativity of prepared food.

Simply the best! Mixed starter platter is amazing, Scallops were super tender, Risotto was perfect and the fresh fish for main course was enlightening. If you are near Pula you have to give this a try. Reservation is a must though!

After many visits, I can say with certainty that this is one of the best restaurants in Istria, if not in all of Croatia. Each time, they amaze with their fish specialties, friendliness and more than affordable prices. We usually eat all cold starters, shellfish...and fish for the main course and all desserts because it's hard to decide which one is better. Be sure to visit this place!More

Didn’t get to eat there, but even the smell was extraordinary. You should get your reservation more than one week in advance in high season.
