I really thought this was a delightful restaurant. We ordered two curries and was met with an abundance of foods to accompany our curries. Burmese food is in general quite bland but we really enjoyed the variety of foods provided and some foods we were...not sure what they were... all the joys of travelling. Even when we finished one dish we got a refill. It was really a joy to see this hospitality. Our drinks were a bit delayed but delicious all the same.More

Well-renowned restaurant serving a variety of typical Burmese dishes. As should be done, let’s start with the praise. Staff are plentiful and very attentive. The restaurant is tidy and (always a good sign) full of locals including families. Passion fruit juice was delicious. The food...was very tasty, and every main dish is accompanied by a number of side dishes, crudités and white rice plus a tea leaf salad to finish. There wasn’t a bad thing on the table. Do be prepared for the ‘main’ to come in an identically sized bowl to the sides; this can be confusing. The first problem emerged just after sitting down when ordering drinks. A popular national beer was requested. We were informed that it wasn’t available. OK, then, any other beer of the half dozen listed will do. Sorry, no beer was available that evening at all. Large or small, warm or cold, no matter. None. Not one bottle or can. The next question was about availability of beer yesterday and tomorrow. Both were no problem. There wasn’t a religious holiday or anything else that might explain this absurdity. The second problem emerged when we were ready to pay. We had decided to share one item knowing in advance about all the side dishes to expect. The bill reflected a MMK2500 charge for additional rice, a charge equivalent to 55% of our main dish. This wouldn’t be too much of a disappointment if it were made clear when ordering and if the side dishes were scaled depending on the number of diners at the table. But we observed an identical quantity of side dishes being given to us and tables of 4-6. We can understand that they’d like to encourage each guest to order a main, but it can surely be better handled than this. We did mention our confusion/disappointment to the server, but there wasn’t even a moment of consideration about removing the additional rice charge. We would most definitely have given a 4 without the hiccups. As it stands, 3 will have to do.More

This was without doubt our favourite meal in Mandalay. They do the Burmese style of several side dishes to perfection. They also keep refilling the dishes when you finish them. We ended up having to leave some in the bowl so we didn’t get any...more as we were so full. The chickpea Dahl side dish was particularly good. As well as being attentive, the waiters were also really good fun.More

We were here for lunch after our guide recommended the place. The staff was not very friendly or attentive. The food was rather greasy and a bit cold but seemed to be okay. But in the afternoon we both started feeling bad and got a...diarrhoea. As others here have already described the same sensation I unfortunately should have read the reviews before our visit.More

Wonderful experience at this Myanamar restaurant in Mandalay. The prices are pretty cheap and you get a lot of good food to eat. The concept is that you order one dish like a Chicken dish. This will be the main dish, and then it has...many accompanying side dishes. Some of the side dishes are: Rice, Lentil Curry, Leaf salad, Some cut vegetables, spicy boiled cauliflower, etc. The side dishes are frequently replenished. One has to be hungry to go to this restaurant. The restaurant was pretty busy with plenty of local people. Service was awesome and the staff really indulge you. They then serve tea salad at the end. Customer service is pretty good.More

Visited the place because of a friend's advice. Left without disappointment. The food was good and tasty. The portions were just a lot! They refill your plates all the time. No way you leave hungry.

I’m a convert. I have traveled all over the world and never received so much good food for so little money. Better yet it was the best Burmese meal I have had and was far tastier than several other restaurants I have already visited. Five...of us visited tonight. Two large beers, and six entrees ordered resulted in a table full of food. Multiple free side dishes and condiments with all the rice you could eat, just like the pictures show. In the end it cost us 30,500 Kyat or 21.33 US dollars. The five of us left lots of food on the table. The only downside? The food came so fast after we ordered that we barely had time to enjoy our beers before the food arrived. Clearly this is where the locals come and for good reason.More

Had our dinner when my wife and I visited Mandalay. We loved Myanmar food. There are lots of sided dishes, with lots of veges, served with authentic Burmese gravy / side dishes. The soup is sour, make it a nice appetizer. As long as you...order a main dish, the rice, soup and all the side dishes on the tables are free. They even serve some nuts dessert after you finished. The fruit juice are optional, but nice addition to the meal and it is not expensive. We had a good time.More

Great, authentic Burmese food. Every dish is served with as much rice as you can eat, they are very happy to fill your bowl up for free. We both had chicken dishes which were lovely! The side dishes you get with the food are also...great! Make sure you’re really hungry when you arrive as they will feed you well.More

The juices here are amazing. I felt the food was well prepared and of quality, but the taste was not as mindblowing as the earlier reviews sounded.

This restaurant was quite a suprise for us. We ordered our food, and were then surprised when around 6 or so "condiments" also arrived with our food. The "condiments" were almost the same size as our main meals. Very tasty, good service and would highly...recommend.More

We requested our Guide Mr Thomas(not his real Burmese name) a very knowledgeable person, to take us to a restaurant where mostly Burmese people go to have authentic Burmese food for lunch. He brought us here. A bustling restaurant, not less than 100 seats on...the ground floor alone and there was an upper floor too. I asked for Hilsa fish as the main course, my wife asked for another fish and Thomas had something else. With each item came, rice( not sticky rice), about 5 items of accompaniments, and many savouries. There was a watery vegetable soup to help you gulp down your food and a cup of green tea. We could not do justice to all the items and a lot of food was wasted. The bill came to USD 11.5 including the cost of a large bottle of beer we had taken. The food is authentic Burmese, extremely hygienic and the service was very fast and excellent. This place is highly recommended at Mandalay, your trip here will not be complete unless you have eaten here.More
