I want to try camel meat, and it was really good. I had Camel curry, and it was great, didn't want to go for kebab or burger, as I assume, their meat is lean, and from my cooking experience you need fat.

The food was very good, the service was good, the atmosphere was pleasing. ... We were a group of five and the waitress was very attentive and helpful. We had the mutton which was tenderly delicious.

This is actually not a place that I'll recommend to have a meal in Bastakya as you have a lot of better option next door. We have ordered some dishes there and got our order with huge time gaps between us. I have been served very late and the food was very slow to come. On top of that meat... More

We were purposefully here for camel burgers. It's novel but I guess that's it. It tasted dry; not as juicy as beef burgers. Maybe it is a touristic restaurant, I found the food is overpriced.

For the first time a had a Camel burger meat and it was good. The place here is simple but I a good location. You can visit just behind the traditional art village. So don't esitate to come here but don't expect more than a simple cosy tea house.

Easily found when walking the pedestrian arts and crafts quarter next to the creek in 'old' Dubai, the Local House is the café that I'd always choose for a refreshing break on a hot day. The shaded court yard is cool enough for most days, with an air-conditioned glass box at the side for very hot ones. Excellent coffee and... More

Fast service, good attention, nice place. We tried camel meat and was really good! The price is regular but ok for the city. We should go back for sure

Lots of different things on the menu. I wanted to try camel meat, but didn't expect it would be the most delicious meat, so I bypassed the kebabs and opted for the burger. The burger was very basic. Nothing near the standard of other meals I had in Dubai. The setting was ok. I chose to sit in an air... More

The house itself seems to have a bit of history, but unfortunately the person who served me spoke very limited English. The house has a traditional wind tower, and the plaster work and construction method seem quite old, as if the house could be very old, with sections that had been added on in later years. My camel kabab was... More

We went in here because we wanted to try camel meat. Little did we know there would be so many options! Camel shake, camel burger, camel kebab, camel curry, even camel Wellington! We ate at a cute table in the nice garden. A nice respite from the heat of walking around Dubai.

Staying in The Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
