Not often in life can you help a good cause and in return be given the finest food with the friendliest service we have had in Cambodia. This training school for underprivileged young children is a miracle and well worth supporting. The Asian set menu for lunch was outstanding and the trainees were charming and showing both enthusiasm and professionalism... More

The 3 stars in the rating is only because of chaotic service, food is great and gives you a feel of being in a cobtemperory place! The restaurant trains hospitality students. Most of waiters did not understand English, orders were mixed up and they could not answer any question asked in English. Communication was a big issue but still the... More

Dear "Lavi1205", Thank you for your comment! As you mentioned it, Sala Baï is a vocational training in hospitality that trains for free, each year, more than 100 young disadvantaged Cambodians to five different training: restaurant, cooking, front office, housekeeping and beauty therapy. All the students started the year at the beginning of September and started to train in "real... More

This is a delightful experience. The food is delicious, the service charming, if tentative (we were there during the first week of the new intake and everyone was a little nervous). It is a very worthwhile cause and the organisers are passionate about what they do. We went twice, the food was so good.

For a trainee restaurant this was a memorable experience. Both the food and service was excellent probably far better than a lot of others. We had a 3 course lunch in a group of 12. The food was probably the best I had in Cambodia. If you are in Siem Reap definitely make the effort to visit but check as... More

We didn't stay in the hotel but we did visit the Sala Bai restuarant whilst in Siem Reap. It's a short tuk tuk ride out of town but worth the journey. The food was really good and certainly excellent value. In addition to this you are also helping to support such a worthy cause. I will definitely be going back... More

I went for lunch and got the Dori fish. It was artfully and perfectly prepared in a very traditional French manner. This is a training school for chefs and servers, and you could tell everyone was trying really hard. A couple of times there were language issues, so the French manager came over and sorted everything out, no problem. It's... More

We arrived at the last day before exams and the students were eager and a bit nervous to show their skills. They handled the service good with a few minor slip ups. Description
Sala Baï Hotel & Restaurant School was founded in 2002 by the French NGO Agir pour le Cambodge. The school entirely and exclusively meant for young Cambodians coming from underprivileged families. In 2015, more than 1300 young Cambodians, with a 70% priority to girls, have been trained. They have all found a job within 1 month after their one-year training. A few years later, their average salary goes from $250 to $350 which enables them to reach the emerging Cambodian middle-class. The vocational training taught at Sala Baï is definitely the fastest and most efficient way of fighting poverty and human trafficking. But without your support, nothing would be possible. By coming to our training restaurant, you already make a great difference, with the pleasure to enjoy high-quality food.
