We had lunch, dessert and coffee at the East Indies restaurant. The food was excellent, not much and a little pricey, but well worth every rupy. :) And fortunately, there was still room for dessert. Very tasty ice cream and real espresso. The staff was very friendly. Highly recommended place - especially if you are looking for good coffee.

The East Indies is the in-house restaurant at the Eight Bastion hotel. We ate there on the first night out of convenience. The food was so good we had no hesitation in eating there the second night. The menu has a good range of dishes for both entrees and mains, with several salads and side dishes. All food is Indian... More

beautiful (If somewhat pricey) indian cuisine served in a beautiful, calm environment. Everything we ate here was delicious with a point of difference - lovely, perfectly fresh and expertly spiced indian tapas for lunch with delicious fresh chapatis and non-alcoholic cocktails.

We wandered into the East Indies restaurant for lunch on our last day in India. After 3 weeks we were pretty jaded on most Indian fares and were not expecting much more than the ordinary (as we had at our hotel restaurant next door which was supposedly highly rated). Imagine our surprise when we were served with not only different... More

What a treat this place was. We had the tasting menu which was really really generous and extremely delicious. Also really good value for money. Lovely staff, great relaxing venue - could easily have eaten every meal here!

My wife and I are still moonstruck by the taste of food at this place. Above all, when a chef walks out and asks how the food was; always remember he is confident about it being good. But this food wasn't just good, it was an ultimate food fantasy that one could live!

We have eaten here twice in the past week, great for lunch, they do a great salad and bowls of noodles, lovely staff, and really good service, good for veggies as well, good Randang curry, ask them to spice it up a little .

Nice ambiance, aristocratic service, very nice serving and plating. Chicken satay was excellent, poached fish with lemon sauce was average. A group of young noisy tourists drove us out as soon as we finished the main dish.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Beautifully presented. The shrimp sausages were divine & my wife's shiitake mushroom soup had such a depth of flavour. Very clever & skillful use of spices & seasonings. Very good value for the quality. You won't find better in Kochi.
