This is not the first time I have been to Poppies and I will return whenever I head into Kuta. It has a beautiful garden setting where you can escape the heat and the craziness of Kuta, and the food is delicious! I had the...guacamole dish and it was so yummy! Big thanks to Kadek, who was a warm, friendly and attentive waitress too!More
Please keep venturing into Kuta - it's not all bad, and is quieter these days! Will pass your compliments on to Kadek, although we have 2 waitresses with that name!
Lush greenery setting that makes the place lovely to begin with. Food tastes great; ordered the rice table that had a lot of variety.
Thank you for coming to Poppies Restaurant!
Nestled behind a wall hidden off Poppies one lane. this is a 50 year old restaurant and is quite popular. You dine in a beautiful well maintained garden. We came on a Sunday night at 7 pm and there appeared to be no unoccupied tables....Good thing we reserved, and at my request we had a table adjacent to the fish pond. So the atmosphere is splendid and very romantic. While the food was pretty good, nothing was outstanding. The menu is varied with Indonesian, Asian fusion and western dishes. Because they were so busy the service was a bit slow, but the staff worked very hard and were quite friendly. All in all, it was a pleasant evening. Prices are in the mid range. It is an institution in Kuta, so it's definitely worth a try. If you go for dinner be sure to make an online reservation.More
Our menu, and maintaining food quality, are a never-ending work in progress, as you probably appreciated when giving us such a high score. Thank you.
What a beautiful restaurant when we eventually found it. Hidden down Poppies Lane 1. We were shown to our table and found there was plenty of choice on the menu. I opted for the spring rolls with 3 sauces all of which added to the...taste. I chose Tongseng Kambing for my main which was Lamb with rice and vegetables and again really tasty. All this was washed down with a large bottle of the local beer - Bintang Very reasonable prices and excellent valueMore
Hope to welcome you back again soon.
It took us a while to find this place simply because we had no idea where on Poppies Lane 1 it was. When we found it, it looked like a brick walled home from the outside however on the inside it was a different matter....As it was mid afternoon and very hot, we decided to have a drink but advised the staff we were coming back for evening meal. When we went back later that evening they asked if we had a reservation. At no stage did they say you needed one earlier in the day but was the place was mainly empty, we were given a table. Considering it was not overly busy, it took a while for them to come and ask us about drinks, and similarly with food. When the food arrived it was plentiful and again very tasty. My daughter likes her spice so her food was cooked accordingly, myself i dont like spice so my dish had no spice in at all. My wife had a curry which she said was just right. Overall the food was spot on, the environment was beautiful and the whole experience was enjoyable. FYI you are sitting outside however cover is available.More
Thank you for a lovely review. We apologise for the tardy service, and are always trying to improve it...
Returned after some years and nothing has changed though service is now just ok Food very ordinary - stuck in the 80s
We are sorry you were disappointed.
What a beautiful place to have lunch. We stumbled across this place after walking down Poppies Lane and were (4 adults and one 19 month toddler) so pleased we stopped here. All 4 of our main dishes were excellent and the service was perfect too,...providing our toddler with a small rice dish on the house, when he woke up towards the end of our meal was a nice touch. Good value for such a secluded and beauty location in a courtyard. I personally recommend their Nasi Goreng!More
Thank you for a super review. Our greatest reward..
Sad to write this but if I don’t then would not like to hear/see someone has been exposed. I STRONGLY ADVISE Trip Advisor to return and reassess. We gave them the opportunity of moving us to another table only to again see (come in contact...with a certain vermin) leaving us no choice but to leave. The place is dark and on the floor was plenty of certain uninvited guests. Please look up below and take note. Leptospirosis (Weil's disease) Horrendous experience.More
I assume you refer to the ubiquitous little animals that roam freely allover the world, Bali, Kuta, and yes sometimes even in Poppies Restaurant, where gardens are not only attractive to humans! Please understand that we wage a constant battle against all such invaders, but...More
Historical restaurant in Kuta not far from main road but segregated from chaos. Food was not as good as expected, except for the garlic prawns which were very good. Even if Kuta is maybe not the best place for dinner I’d not suggest this restaurant
We're sorry for your disappointment, and will keep on trying...
A Great Place It has been many years since we have been to Poppies. We are staying a few nights in Legian and decided to revisit Poppies. It seems little has changed since my last Poppies meal around 30 yrs ago. It still offers great...food, good value, and a magnificent Bali garden. We opted for Indonesian food. The chicken satay sticks were yum. We could not fault Poppies. We will not leave it so long to return. Good on you team for building such a long standing brand.More
Amazing food and place, too bad we discovered our last day in Bali. Definitely recommend this place and definitely we’ll be back when we visit again Bali!
Worst meal and service i have experienced for sometime. They forgot us and our meals where substandard. The only highlight was the entree, downhill from there.
We're so sorry to read this, and so sorry for your disappointment. We will keep on trying to prevent things from going wrong..
We love the beautiful garden design of poppies, such amazing environment, the food was great too, “freshly catch of the day” fish was yummy 😋 Will visit again
Thank you for the kind words.
Disappointed…I have visited poppies many many times in the past 40 years and always looked forward to my visit.. sadly this time the food and the service was very disappointing.
We are very sorry to hear about this. It would have been so helpful to know some details, so that we could know where to begin to correct things, but thank you for letting us know.
