We ate dinner at this restaurant on our last night in Ubud. We were really pleasantly surprised. The outside looks like a little entrance to a tiny area but the restaurant is actually huge with little hidden areas in a beautiful setting. It is very romantic with high and low tables and a lovely atmosphere. The food was lovely and... More

Visited once again when in Ubud and enjoyed the lovely setting, good service and good food at reasonable price. A must thing to do if in Ubud.

Tried this restaurant as it's opposite where we stayed and was recommended by our hotel. Good portion of food and very nicely cooked. There's Indonesian music played at the background while dinner is served. Only thing is that the lighting is a bit dark for my liking !

We ate at this restaurant twice. The second meal was not as good as the first so it's about what you choose. We stayed with the Indonesian menu but the overall menu offers great variety. The restaurant is extensive and is deceptive from the street. There are many seating area set among gardens and water features. It is a very... More

The staff are very friendly and professional! The whole place has a great atmosphere as there are sectioned platforms throughout the garden - it feels very secluded and peaceful. If you go for breakfast you MUST get the banana pancake - so good! It was so good I actually went twice during my time in Ubud!

We tried out the Sunday night buffet in preparation for taking friends there. The range of dishes is extensive, and all traditional, which we love. There are loads of vegetarian options if you don't eat meat - a consideration for our friend. All dishes were topped up throughout the buffet so everything was available and fresh. The tastes were delicious.... More

Dinner at this place recommended by a local. Ordered traditional food. Came in a weaved tray over banana leaf. The presentation is a good as the food. Portion was small though.

My last visit was 2014, but I have been visiting regularly since 1990. I just love Cafe Wayan. Ibu Wayan is an inspiration and her Cafes and hotels are superb. The Balinese buffet is a fantastic introduction to the complexity and diversity of Balinese cuisine. The menu has something for everyone to suit all pockets. Check it out!

We both had fish dishes, The food was average at best, prices were rather high, we won't be back here. Desserts were nice though.

We had The Balinese Special and a similar dish with a variety of local foods in appetizer-sized portions on banana leaves. From the speed of service and the atmosphere of the restaurant to the presentation of the food and the flavors, this was a perfect dinner experience. Would definitely recommend and come back any time!

Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 30 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.
