Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Felt like we were ripped off. We went to a fish monger and ordered seebass and prawn. When we went to the restaurant to have it cooked it came fried and we wanted grilled we then ask the waiter he said it is not seabass...they have given. Also ordered 5 prawns and was only given 4. They then charged us 900 lira for the fish only which i think was expensive! I have attached pics of the shop tht tried to ripp us off!More

The service here was excellent and very friendly. The food was plentiful and excellent quality, tbe choice of fresh fish was first class, and for anyone who did not eat fish there were other choices. It was also very reasonably priced. Will be back next...year.More

This should have been brilliant but I came away feeling ripped off. It’s great to choose your seafood and decide how it’s cooked and the food itself is great. But, it’s all done in a very flash way with busy guys finding you a table...and encouraging you to have this and that. There are no price lists. So when the bill arrives, it’s far more than you will expect. So don’t be pushed around.More

Visited the Fish Market whilst on holiday with friends. 6 of us got the Dolomus from OluDeniz. On entering the market a lovely lady greeted us and explained the set up, offered to help us choose and take us to her fish counter. The choice...of seafood was amazing, everything looked and smelt very fresh. We bought squid, 1 kilo prawns 2 kilo mussels 2 x Rock sea bass. Total was 1500 lira. She prepared all our food served us with meze starters, fresh salad, bread, water and a couple of beers each. The food was absolutely fabulous. Our bill to her was 3500 lira which included a tip. Total of 5000 lira for a fabulous meal, drinks and the whole experience was well worth it. Unfortunately I can't remember the ladies name but the restaurant name will show in one of my photosMore

Once you’ve chosen and paid for your fish you’re seated, then you choose your sides. Mumma comes to the table to ask how you’d like each dish cooked & it was all to perfection! Prawns & seabass were my fave - a great experience and...great value for money - a must do when in turkey!More

The two part market is a great tourist attraction on it’s own . The fish market has stalls in the centre. Around the edge of the market are restaurants who will cook your purchases and add Meze’s and chips for a fee. They sell drinks...also. The atmosphere is wonderful. The vegetable market is ideal if you have a villa or apartment. Well worth a try if you can find it ! Ask a localMore

The fish you buy is absolutely NOT what they cook. The restaurant doesn't cook the food fresh and it isn't what you pay for

Poor, overpriced, run down establishment definitely not worth your time and money. And that refers to both - the so called fish market and attached to it grubby looking restaurants where your chosen fish can then be cooked for you. When we visited the place...was pretty much empty. Maybe another couple of tables of visitors. No surprise as part of fish and seafood we bought was not fresh and subsequently cooked by somebody who clearly doesn’t know how to do it . I will never go backMore

I have been coming to Turkey for the past twelve years, as the whole family loves it. We have been to the fish market many times in the past (last time 2019). It is a great concept and atmosphere. Unfortunately this year was not a...good experience at the market, the fish is way over priced and not always fresh. The fish mongers in the centre tell you to buy the fish and eat in their restaurant opposite. This unfortunately is not true, the fishmongers just sell the fish. We bought 1 x small crab, 4 x large prawns, couple of handfuls of clams and mussels and 1 x small whole fish, cost £75.00 We had meze starters at the restaurant opposite, selection of 7 between the four of us., bread. Salad and a few drinks. The cost at the restaurant was £105, so in total £180.00 for four. I don’t mind paying £45 per head for good quality food in a great location, but the fresh fish is poor quality and not worth the money. This time it felt like a rip off, when I spoke to the waiter he just blamed the price hikes on the Russian, Ukrainians and English driving up the price of property? I sympathise for the Turkish workers but it should not impact quality. There are lots of great restaurants in Turkey with amazing food, unfortunately the fish market is now not the place to go.More

Me and my friend thought we'd have a bit of calamari. So turning up we had a look about and asked the price. 350tl 🙄 per kilo!!!!! Let's remember this is a market and should be cheap. This place is not cheap it's bloody expensive...and people should start avoiding. Just to give you some idea we went to the super market and fresh calamari was 140tl........ Then you gotta pay to have it cooked hahaha. I won't going backMore

This market sells the freshest fish, with the added bonus of being able to purchase, than have it cooked by the surrounding restaurants. Great experience & atmosphere, especially in the December sunshine.

We just love this place. We go to Cem Can where we have always had an amazing experience. You choose your fish and it is cooked and served for a nominal sum. You can spend as little or as much as you want on fish....Brilliant atmosphere. The market area is just interesting to walk around with its fruit and veg stall, lots of restaurants, meat and grocery stores. Everything under one roof. A hidden gem which can take new visitors a while to find.More

It is great to select your own fish have t prepared then take it to one of many eating places to have it cooked, they will supply drinks slads fries and of course bread at a cost of about £6.00 per head , your fish...will cost what price is standard prwans say £5.00 for 12 large ones , a grouper medium size (as these can be big fish) about same price, so a delicious lunch for a really god price. A great experience.More
