Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The cafe is located on 51st floor in JR Central Towers. Ascend to the 12th or 13th floor by lift called Sky Shuttle. You can also get to 12th or 13th floor by getting through Takashimaya but in that case you can't get there directly by lift, so you have to go there by escalator from 11th floor. Then take an elevator that goes to the Panorama salon. Usually many people make a line up in front of the cafe. When you wait, a clerk ask you which seat you prefer, a non-smoking-seat, a smoking-seat or a window-seat. The cafe has a great view and the window seats are very popular, so you'll have to wait a long time if you choose the one. One of the appeals of the cafe is that we can placed an order for a piece of cakes made by famous patisseries. The prices might be a little expensive. However when we order hot coffee, iced coffee or American coffee - weak coffee -, we can get another cup of the same kind of coffee for free. Each coffee is 702 yen.

Very nice view of the city below. Best place to sip your coffee while gazing at the busy city streets below, enjoying one of the trivial pleasures of life. The staff was very nice. The ambience had a hint of luxury flavor, while the price range is still in the mid-level.

It's on the 51st floor of the building where you need to first grab an elevator to the 12th floor, then take a second elevator (about 75 feet away from the first set of elevators) to the 51st floor. When you get off on the 51st floor, the cafe will be right in front of you. It's a little small (compared to cafes in America), but quite nice. I was asked whether I wanted smoking or non-smoking and if I wanted to be next to a window. I chose nonsmoking and window, but as there were no non-smoking spots left by windows, she asked if it was okay to be in the smoking section. I thought why not? So I agreed, and was pleasantly surprised that no one was smoking in there. :) It was a nice, classy environment. It seems like many people go there for personal or business meetings. There were also a few people who went solo (like myself). Perhaps you might want to make sure you dress up a little bit before coming here. If not, I guess they may just suppose you're a tourist staying at the hotel, but it's nice to not stick out. Service was very kind, and attentive to if you wanted/needed them to come over or not. Despite their offering of many delicious and sophisticated looking cakes, I opted for an ice cream over pie dessert with a cup of matcha. The dessert had a loop of cotton candy on top! I though it was a kind of weird mix (carnival food plus classy dessert), but it went really well together! The matcha was made from a nice powder and was bitter, but I though that complemented my sweet dessert well. Towards the bottom of the cup, it was a little thick with powder, but I wouldn't say it was a deal breaker. I came to the cafe to have a nice place to do study and do my homework, so there was a point in the end where I just had my cup of matcha and my book. The waiters/waitresses did not come by to interrupt me, which was nice, but when I was ready to leave, no one came over, either. I was a bit confused if I was supposed to wait for them to collect my money or if I was supposed to go to the front. After about a minute, I decided to just go to the front desk. No biggie. I was able to check out there. Oh, they also take card (rare in Japan, but I guess this place gets enough traffic to warrant this). Apparently some cards also get points or something. I wasn't too concerned with that because I have a debit card, and I wasn't even sure how much money was in it.. But anyway, I paid in cash like normal in Japan. Overall, if you're looking for a classy place to chill and enjoy a nice dessert and/or drink, I would definitely recommend coming here if you find yourself around the area.

Cafe Du Ciel is a lovely venue on the 51st floor of the JR Towers offering window tables for two facing out for the best possible views. We had coffee and cakes from a mouthwatering selection which tasted as good as they looked. The coffee was served in beautiful china. This was our second visit to Cafe Du Ciel and I would recommend it for a "special" treat.
