We got to sample the vegetable soba and mixed tempura for breakfast. The soba was very good, served in delicate soup with fresh mountain vegetables as toppings. The tempura was crispy and not greasy. We only spent over ¥2200 for these. Very good value for...More

This place is awesome! We had a quick lunch here and they provided us with instructions to eat soba as locals. You can also keep the instruction as a souvenir and I really appreciated it. Food was delicious. Very typical, try it!

Fairly quick lunch, we had soba with mushroom and it was tasty yet delicate. Also nice veg tempura. Quite cheap, we spent less than 3000 in total. Nice and warm staff, happy to explain how to best enjoy soba! Recommended!

The best cold soba noodles I have tried thus far and the tempura had an interesting selection of vegetables to accompany the prawn. Service was friendly and quick. Can't go wrong with place even though it is in the tourist area.

There is a big difference between just good noodles and fresh handmade ones. This place place is great beyond that, the atmosphere transports you back to ancient times as well. Do not miss it if you are in the mood for noodles.

Ebisu was established as the first specialized soba restaurant in the area more than 100 years ago. The original Ebisu restaurant is located at San-machi Street which is in national important traditional building preservation area. The street is famous for its ancient township with warehouses for Takayama Festival floats as well as castle town, and a historical commercial district. The sign for the restaurant contains original glass pieces from when the restaurant opened. The interior design of the building also remains unchanged. Our restaurant has been cherished for generations as an established soba shop where customers enjoy old fashioned food and atmosphere, looking over irrigation canals through wooden windows, unique doors and authentic Japanese gardens.
