Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

3 months later, and we’re still talking about our wonderful experience at Plat Home. We booked last-minute and got a prime counter spot out of pure luck. Don’t snooze on a reservation, as the place filled quickly after we arrived. The menu features about 30...seasonal small plates, and everything’s priced as I would expect for the quality of ingredients, prep, and presentation. Not every dish stands out but there’s a few gems that I wish I could eat again right now. It’s clear Chef Ponta loves what he does. He’s a great host with good taste. When I return to Kanazawa, I’ll probably stop here twice!More

My husband and I stayed in Kanazawa for two nights just so we could dine at Plat Home our favourite restaurant. Once again we were thrilled with the Courses served to us by Soltaro and prepared by our main Chef Pinto and his Co Chef...Yo and assisted by Kom. We choose to sit at the bench where we watched Pinto create flavoursome food and delicacies with his amazing knife skills.More

Great chef producing some inventive and delicious food. Service was very friendly and warm. Lovely little gem of a restaurant. Best sashimi I’ve had in Japan.

Tried to go without reservation, but no luck. They happily recommended somewhere else for us, and we booked with Plat Home for the following night instead. We were sat at the bar watching the chefs cook. Everyone including the chefs was very friendly and interactive....The food was fantastic, traditional Japanese and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.More

Terrible service, overcharged like crazy, very small portions. Run away as fast as you can. Charge for sitting down, must order drinks. Staff is terrible as well

What a fantastic meal, one of the best I’ve ever had in Japan. Every single dish was delicious, with incredible fresh ingredients and plenty of creative wizardry from the chef. Flavours were so well balanced. Even something like potato salad was next level, the best...I’ve had. If the crema catalana ice cream is still on the menu, save room for dessert because it was AMAZING. Relaxed vibe, stunning food and great value - we had a few drinks and plenty of sampling dishes for around USD 50 per person. Book ahead.More

My husband and I have been to Plat Home three times now, twice in 2018 and once in 2019. We are returning in October 2023. We love the food, ambience, staff and service. We are very well travelled and have been to Japan four times...because we love it. Plat Home is our favourite Restaurant in the Countries we have travelled. We plan to be in Kanazawa in October for two nights so we can experience the incredible ingredients of the food offered, the Chefs and the casual but lovely atmosphere of Plat Home. We highly recommend Plat Home A++More

Recommended by our travel agent, and booked for us by them, this small but very friendly restaurant, frequented almost entirely by local people, was a really nice change from larger perhaps more commercial establishments. The food is basically tapas style, cooked to order in front...of you, and very good indeed. Staff didn’t really speak English but, thanks to Google Translate (an extremely useful tool for us in Japan) and a helpful customer, we managed to communicate effectively. The only downside was they didn’t serve wine of any kind. We had to be content with a beer.More

Our dinner at Plat Home was one of the food highlights of our trip to Japan! It was my husband's birthday and I wanted to book somewhere special and this place did not disappoint. Very cosy, intimate and great that we got to sit at...the bar to see the chef's cooking. Amazing too that with just two chef's, two other staff and a tiny kitchen they produce so efficiently such high quality food. As another review said, if you were eating a meal like this in Tokyo, you'd belong paying triple. The food was superb and original and we had a lovely chat to the chef when he found out we were from Melbourne, Australia. Absolutely book as you're not likely to get a seat if you just turn up, as two other tourists did on the night. Ignore any bad reviews of this place - I seriously do not know how you could give a bad review. Plat Home is a wonderful dining experience!More

There is a lot of hype around this place but it’s ok at most, and that’s been generous. You can go to a plethora of other restaurants in Kanazawa, and have a better price to quality ratio and be treated more courteous. There is a...halo effect because of the social media FOMO but it’s not worth it. If you are going because of your instagram feed that’s up to you. If your are looking to a quality dinner, go somewhere elseMore

Plan your trip to Kanazawa around your Plat Home reservation, not vice versa. The staff are lovely, the ambience is great and the food is superb. Don't miss the maguro or the olive fed wagyuu but honestly you can't go wrong with anything on the...menu. We would have come back the following night to try the dishes we missed the first time if we could have gotten a table; make sure you book in advance. The price is excellent value relative to the quality of the dining.More

This was one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. I have been working abroad for nearly two decades and have dined in some of the best restaurants in the world. This was unpretentious, balanced, local, seasonal, delicious, artistry. Chef “Ponta”...created dish after dish of outstanding flavors. The menu is varied enough to be interesting and each dish is a wonder. I had their avocado, tuna and seaweed and actually exclaimed “Wow” with the first bite. Even the ubiquitous potato salad is transformed here into something otherworldly and unctuous. Their assorted sashimi plate was diverse with each bite so well thought out and even the condiments of wasabi, ginger and soy were innovated into something I have never before seen but will be craving for some time into the future. Chef “Ponta” shops at the nearby market daily hand picking the ingredients he will create with. He shared a ripe tomato with a tricked up ricotta and a Shiso flower that was deceptively simple but possibly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. Grab a seat at the bar if you can to watch the magic unfold. The restaurant itself is in a 100+ year old building with original wood beams and is filled with charm while being quite cozy. I will be back in the fall for the seasonal mushrooms and wild boar. If I lived here I would come in once a week.More

Best Japanese food by far. Make sure you get a spot at the bar to watch the chefs in action. Fabulous food, you will not be disappointed. Recommend the grilled Spanish mackerel, tempura mountain vegetables, oysters with marscapone sauce just to mention a few. Recommended...to us by owner of Curio coffee shop, another great place for coffee and lunch.More

Definately one of the best meals we have had in Japan. Such an amazing array of food presented so well. The staff were amazing and helped with food recommendations. We had the worlds best potato salad, sweet potato tempura with blue cheese, mushroom tempura with...prosciutto, spicy fried chicken and grilled squid with kimchi and finished with icecream. We commented that the atmosphere was "Melbourne meets Japan" Highly recommend the restaurant and would suggest making a bookingMore
