Authentic Japanese restaurant frequented mostly by Japanese. Pleasant decoration with lots of wood and classical music make dining here a relaxing experience. And yes the food is great too

Great food, friendly staff, atmospheric location, decent price. The only downside is that the portions are huge. First time in Japan we actually couldn't finish our plates, which is obviously not done.

We had a fab meal here with our 2 kids, age 6 and 9. Staff very attentive, food excellent. Good value. Portions large. We shared 2 large size cutlet meals between 4. I couldn't fault it. Highly recommended.

Me and my wife had dinner here and we really recommend the place. Good food and generous servings. I had the Special and she had a curry and we both liked what we had. Also, the place is nice, feels authentic, and the people running it is very nice and helpful if you don't know what to do with a... More

Excellent food, big portions and very reasonably priced. We had chicken cutlet and chicken fillet curry, with rice, a salad and miso soup, and complimentary some fried potatoes and edamame (soy beans) as an appetizer. That with a big beer (625ml) cost us 3200 yen. Couldn't finish it, because of the big portions. Free green tea.

Sometimes wonder if places such as this really are that good or just a bit over-hyped because people like me follow the Trip Adisor crowd. But in this case it's difficult to go wrong here. Just a simple restaurant with 3 tables downstairs and a 3 or 4 upstairs. By 7pm it was full. Food is basically Tonkatsu style which... More

A group of six if us visited for dinner tonight to celebrate a friend's birthday and experience the local cuisine. We found this wonderful restaurant through recommendations on TripAdvisor and were not disappointed. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly and extremely helpful, the food delicious and serves very generous, as mentioned in earlier posts. The Sake also was... More

A very simple place for dinner. Large portions of all the different orders, each accompanied by a rather strange but none the less pleasant salad combination. I'm rating it very good on value and quantity, rather than ambiance or quality of cooking.

I'm really glad we visited Takuma for dinner - there are so many restaurants in Matsumoto to choose from, and this has been our favourite. There was a lovely welcoming feeling as soon as we walked in, despite our two grumpy, hungry kids. The English menu was clear enough to order, with the help of our friendly server, and our... More
