Amazed by the good comments about this cafe. It does have a lovely peaceful look from the very crowded street, that fact that it was easy to get a table should have been a warning sign. French inspired menu.. Pleasant place to sit. My husband ordered paella and was told it would take 15 minutes. That was fine, but it... More

Had lunch there during my visit to the national museum. Paella costs about Y1400 and tastes dry and uninteresting. Does not accept credit card payment for bills below Y5000.

Desperate for lunch we chose this cafe/restaurant by chance. Quirky interior set within the main building and a conservatory. The staff were polite and attentive. The food was really well presented and delicious. Only a small menu but everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. We opted for the onion soup and selected meats set menu. We were not... I ordered the spinach&mushrooms&shrimps Galette with onion soup :) Taste: Crispy and light, albeit a little dry in areas where there was no filling. Filling was a little sparse :( with only two tiny shrimps. overall however the food was above average and can be considered for light lunch :)

The restaurant is close to Todaiji Temple and easy to access. It boasts an nice little veranda at the back and a small terrasse at the front. The food was simple but of excellent quality. A great place to take a break during your exploration of Nara!

Feeling tired after wandering down to the Todaiji Temple? Sick of pushy deers trying to steal your cookies? Head down to Monsieur Pepe, close to the Todaiji- French style food, for a cheap satisfying beef stew or onion soup and a nice glass of red wine. Very friendly staff, nice setting, inside and outside tables. Really a great place to... More

We stumbled upon Monsieur PePe before our afternoon with the deer at Nara Park. What an absolutely lovely delight. The menu is very European, whereas the antique-y decor is from around the world, all making for a unique ambiance. The food is delicious. We opted for the french onion soup with all the side dishes one could ask for. Everything... More

Coming back late from Todaiji we were delighted to stop here and relax. It was a warm evening, so lovely to sit outside, though the inside looked charming. The food was tasty and service good. We went twice because it was so delightful.
