Tengaiten was excellent. It's tonkotsu (pork-bone broth) ramen, like Fukuoka is famous for, but it's richer, heavier, fattier, and with a bit more meat and a lot more garlic. I thought it was truly excellent, but it you like a lighter ramen, you may find this a bit overwhelming. The restaurant itself also has the perfect ramen atmosphere--it's very small... More

I was recommended this place by my interpreter. It was fantastic! From the moment I walked in (single female traveller) I was welcomed and seated immediately (although later on a line had appeared outside, the seats move fast so you don't have to wait long!). I ordered the spicy ramen and wanted more! Delicious! The duck was so tender and... More

I had visited Japan 3 times in a year and had many Ramens in Japan and in my country. This is my top 2 favourite Ramen of all! It is so flavourful and the char siew is so yummy! This place is very small, and only opens at night. We went early to be the first to enter and had... More

I went there with my friend. The restaurant was quite small and packed with customers. I ordered the noodles with hot sauce and boiled egg. All I can say is this ramen is soooooo tasty and delicious. The aroma of the soup was so nice. The pork was thick but soft and juicy. I'm still craving for it until now.... More

This is a small eat at the counter style Ramen place. They have Ramen and beer etc. I opted for the "Very" spicy ramen and it was REALLY hot. But I have to say super tasty, It was highly recommended but maybe go for the less spicy options.

Waited until the shop open at 7pm - can see both locals and tourists waiting. Not difficult to order. Can see the pork being cook right in front of you! Ramen and the pork was a bit salty for my liking, but I was NOT thirsty after the meal.

It's only a tiny place, and looks a bit rundown, but the garlic ramen was delicious. There was also spicy version @ ¥700-750

Looking through the top restaurants in Kumamoto this one was near our hotel and after searching online we found an English review saying it was delicious so decided to give it a try! They don't have an English menu but a member of staff kindly translated the short menu for us- ramen, spicy ramen, ramen with extra pork and then... More
