Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful restaurant with very friendly service. I have been visiting the Baby Marrow restaurant for several years and am impressed by the very extensive menu and the excellent quality of the food. For every Malindi visitor, Baby Marrow is an absolute must. Many thanks...to the whole team for the nice hospitality and a compliment to the kitchen team.More

The food was good (meat and fish). However, I went there with my Maasai husband who was spoken to very badly by one of the waitresses just because another Maasai (honey seller) dared to sit at our table. It was really very shocking 😳

We went out to celebrate our 42nd anniversary. The dinner was bad on so many levels. First, they had no fluted or champagne-styled glasses for the Prosecco. Regarding the overpriced seafood platter; the jumbo prawns were overcooked, and the fish did not taste fresh and...was extremely dry. The very thin tips of the grilled octopus arms which should be crunchy were really chewy. Then for dessert, we ordered chocolate souffle, which was simply a chocolate lava cake. Trying to explain to the lady, the very essence of a soufflé is its characteristic lightness., was disregarded. During the meal, when asked how it was, we had shared our disappointment. While preparing the bill, the waitress told the owner about our disappointment, he offered us another dessert. Too little too late, and he couldn't be bothered to walk five meters to our table himself. Won't be returning.More

The host Maurizio has been running this restaurant for 12+ years. Food is great including the service. We ordered cheese and meat platter and dish of potato fritters and cheese for starters which was all delicious. Main course was mixed with Diavola pizza, linguine with...prawns, ravioli with veggies and the highlight - frittura di granchio morbido (Golden crispy deep fried soft shell crab served with chips and kenyan mango kachumburi) which probably is only found here. We polished it with delicious gelatos. RecommendedMore

We had a booking for 9 people for lunch at 1 o’clock on a Sunday for our birthdays. The table had been prepared. The place is definitely more inviting during evening, but gloomy and dark during day time. Owner/ manager came 5 minutes to 1....He took our orders. The wine was ok. When the food came, 2 fish in lemon sauce and 5 ravioli, all looked covered with the same grey (!) sauce. Everything was grey. Just the 2 pizza were ok. No garnish on any dish to make it look appetizing. Everyone in the group apart from the people who had pizza had a bad stomach after that. We would not go back.More

Probably the best italian restaurant in Malindi. Delicious food and excellent service. The owner and the staff are always gentle and available... A "must to go" place if you pass by Malindi.

First visit to Malindi since before Covid19, and visited Baby Marrow twice. On both occasions service and meal was excellent. Imho the place to eat in Malindi. Baby marrow restaurant in Malindi has ideas above its station. We went for dinner on our first evening in town. It’s tucked at the back of some shops so it’s wee bit out of the way. It’s ok the mixed cheese and meats starter was...a bit basic but ok, the flat bread was burned and too crisp it just crumbled. My partner had the tuna which was good and I had the squid which was awful. It was so overcooked it was practically inedible. we had a wee cat beside us so it landed on its paws and had the squid for tea. Pretentious jazz music, female wait staff in short white shirt dresses, not very appropriate, just not all that really. In a town full of really good Italian eateries, this is way down the list of places to visit.More

Great Italian food. Been many times but not since before the pandemic so wasn’t sure what to expect. This visit the place was buzzing and every table was full even on a midweek evening. So best to book a table in peak season. They mixed...up our order so we waited an hour for a pizza ! But eventually it was delicious, and despite the long wait we will go back again .More

Beautiful looking restaurant which on closer inspection is deeply problematic. The massive ‘ersatz Africa’ artwork, rude distracted owner and harassed staff really tells you all you need to know about Baby Marrow. I can’t complain about the food - it was quite nice and a...broad Italian menu - but the owner taking our order whilst muttering under his breath and rolling his eyes at the staff, was really quite offensive. If you have an aversion to an authentic Kenyan experience then this is the place for you.More

Was recommended the place but what a disaster We were a group of 11 placing the orders then like 1-2 main course came like 1 hour later then a while before the common starter came, then maybe every 15 minutes some got a main course...and others got a starter. At least 1.5 hour difference from the first person got the main course to the last was served. Think main problems was we were a mixed group and non of us Italien Honestly have rated as 1 but should be as many minus point as possible rude manager I'll treated staff, sorry lost for wordsMore

I say this without prejudice, Baby Marrow is the best Italian restaurant in Kenya. So much so, I have booked three trips via Malindi just to have a meal here! The star of the show, for me, is the smoked sailfish, delicately flavoured and generously...portioned. The focaccia is incredible and the choices of olive oil and balsamic vinegar are of premium quality. Maurizio is ever smiling, ever accommodating and a hands-on owner who is a wizard with the food. I would not leave Malindi without experiencing Baby Marrow (at least twice!)More
