It's a fresh fish !

Visit the fish market in the morning and even fish served on the plate at lunchtime! The dish was very good, I would have liked more vegetables because they were really very, very good, but first of all it's a plate of fish... for €11.50, nothing more to say. The dessert was also very good, the view from the terrace is magnificent, it's quiet, the waiters are very pleasant, they serve alcohol (1st restaurant out of 4 or this is the case in Morocco) in short I recommend. Be careful not to get skewered by the parasols that fly away 🙄. A bit of a long wait but no big deal, it’s the holidays!

A welcome to see again, because it is not the smiles that stand out. The portions are impressive, do not hesitate to take a dish for 2 or pass on the starter if you want to be sure to finish your plate, the taste is there and the accompaniments are varied, desserts on the other hand are more than any, and the only one we took was passable. The restaurant is clean, the service quite fast. A group of musicians stopped by during our meal. Rates remain correct. A great disappointment

How disappointing! Our driver had recommended this but it was undoubtedly the worst meal we have had in Morocco! We hadn’t booked (although that doesn’t seem to matter too much in Morocco!) and walked in at 13.25. The service was incredibly slow and repeated requests for assistance went unheeded. It took over 40 minutes to get any food and you would think that getting an ice bucket for our wine was like asking for the Crown Jewels! After about an hour of waiting I went to the desk to complain we had had nothing to eat except a small bowl of bread and some olives. Eventually my (small) Salade Fanatic arrived - which was fine but my wife’s Grilled sea bream came over cooked and was sent back and the next lot came undercooked at which point we were completely past it and gave up. The restaurant only charged us for the salad and the bottle of wine but was so disappointing as we had expected great things from this restaurant and we will advise our driver NOT to recommend it in the future!

Had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant. Seeing the mixed reviews i can say personally that my husband and i had a good experience. I had the mixed fried fish and it came out beautifully cooked. We did have to wait a bit of time for it to arrive but the restaurant was packed when we arrived and was lucky to get a table. We got a table closest to the promenade and was amazing to look out over the beach to the sea - certainly pasted the time waiting for food. Overall a great time spent there with delicious food. Would make a return if we ever came back to Essaouria :) x

Our tour guide took us there for lunch. A classic tourist trap. The dirty, greasy cutlery on the table was replaced with dirty, greasy cutlery, which we then cleaned ourselves. The grilled fish was dry, the rice cold and the vegetables bland. The location by the sea is beautiful. They claimed that only cash payments were accepted. When I insisted on paying the bill for 10 people by card, card payment was still possible.

Restaurant “recommended” by our driver Terribly disappointed So-called fish of the day (Saint Pierre), just inedible, giving off a smell that did not inspire confidence at all, a few vegetables, a little rice and a few fries (a dozen!!!) Serve was friendly and attentive, but there always the upsell, selling items that were not on the menu - ALWAYS check the price ! They bring out a catch of the day tray, which is great, but you MUST confirm the price with them! The sole was excellent. However, the dorada had many, many bones, and it was difficult to eat. The Moroccan salad was very small - they also tried ti uosell to a shampoo and avocado salad - not on the menu and over 4 times the price ! Great location. Then it came to pay the bill, and I was told that they did not accept cards ! Why wasn't this displayed on the menu or notices advising you of such policy. There were no nearby cash machines. We managed to scrape together the cash but left no tip. Very unprofessional!

The view is beautiful but it was our worst meal in Morocco. The fish we ordered was not fresh, it was burnt and accompanied by even less fresh vegetables - in all the dishes ordered. The service is disorganized (we ordered the same thing 3 times) and slow. A shame for such a beautiful place with such bad food to fool tourists.

Stay away. Ate here on the recommendation of our driver. Ordered a range of different food including on recommendation of waiter such as fish fry, chicken and spaghetti dishes. Is nice setting on the beach, but only thing going for it, overpriced rank food, that seems to be off. Look elsewhere for something to eat.

Disappointing

I ordered fried mixed fish. This didn't taste great and prawns had not been prepared(cleaned) properly. Husband had chicken in mushroom sauce, was dry and the chips that came with it looked like they had been recooked. The most disappointing meal we had while there. Also paid 40 Durham for a small Casablanca, Heineken was 30 which is imported so doesn't make sense. We were told it was a larger bottle of Casablanca but it was the same!

The worst service ever

Came for breakfast and waited more than 30 minutes s without anyone bothered to ask me if I want to order something, the grumpy waiter in fact passed by me many time without even trying to ask if I needed something even though the Café wasn't busy at all, so 30 mins passed by I just left somewhere else. After reading some of the reviews about this place I just found out many people shared the same experience. What a shame

Great waterfront restaurant

Quick service and they have English speaking servers who are very accommodating. We wanted to watch the sunset and our server had us switch tables twice to ensure everyone in my party had a decent view. The restaurant is situated right on the beach and the atmosphere is of a shore town with an international edge. The owner Aziz is very friendly and came and joked with us. The Moroccan soccer team advanced to the final eight in the World Cup nd the town and restaurant patrons and staff were having a festive time. Despite this, our food came quickly and tasted good. Three of us ordered the spaghetti which I had without cheese and as a vegan it was great to be able to eat something other than vegetable tangine ( which is good by the way). If you’re here, it is worth checking out if you are looking for food and atmosphere- come for the sunsets.

Got nothing to drink

We were in Essaouira last week, and after a stroll on the beach we wanted to have something to drink. We sat down at a table in the Fanatic Café. My husband and I ordered each a Coke Zero, and when our friends wanted to order the waiter told us that the owner did not allow to serve drinks only. It was compulsory to order a meal - and you could get something to drink only with your meal. Our friends wanted to talk to the waiter's superior, and he confirmed that this was the policiy of the company. I guess that there were something like 80 tables on this terrace, maybe 15 of them were taken. We paid the two Cokes and left. We finally got something to drink at the beach bar of the "Le Médina" hotel, very attentive and nice service, they even got us an extra chair so all of us could sit in the shade.
