Strolling through the Newport Mall on our last evening in Manila, we hankered for an authentic Chinese dinner. After perusing the menu, we decided on this restaurant. We ordered the bitter melon and spare rib in a broth, stirred fried asparagus in garlic and sea cucumber with large shiitake mushrooms. A bowl of rice, a local San Miguel beer and... More

It was past 10pm, and we were looking for Chinese food for late dinner. Fortunately, Tao Yuan closes at 12 midnight. Appetizer was assorted cold cuts with asado, century egg, seaweed, etc. Boiled peanuts was also served. Main dishes included Tao's signature Hainanese chicken with rice. Also, we had crab meat with assorted seasonal veggies. This is the best dish... More

Certainly, the best BBQ/cold cut platter of any Chinese restaurant in Manila... full range of Cantonese and regional Chinese (albeit, with a Singaporean leaning)... Good prices, prompt service make this a can't miss dining treat!

We chose this place after we asked if they can cook fast as we are going to watch the afternoon matinee show. They advised us what to order. We ordered and true to their word, we got the food fast. They even gave us complimentary almond dessert treat. :) The famous hainanese chicken was good.

Always consistent.... this time, had the Peking Duck, Singapore Mee Fun and both were yummy... Extensive Cantonese (mostly) fare and have tried enough to keep coming back!

We enjoyed the food here. The water was in bottles, not glasses. Service was prompt and the choices of good was great.

This place is known for its Hainanese chicken. The secret to the success of this dish is their imported chicken which is older, bigger and fatter than locally bred chickens. This resto also has other good Chinese dishes. One of my faves is the garlic and shrimp spring roll. It's not in the menu anymore but you can still order... More

First time to eat in this restaurant and their Singaporean Spareribs is yummy! It is chunky - not so much rib. Generous serving too. Don't miss it. If you are a couple like us, ask for the lounge seating. It is more comfortable. Pleasantly surprised that they had dessert compliments of the restaurant. Great service too.

They got me at: it's the best Hainanese chicken in town - it certainly was! The location is clean and we were seated immediately. I heard that there used to be a wait outside when it first opened. Everything we ordered tasted really, really good. I was disappointed to notice that they serve Shark's Fin soup. I know that some... More

Upside: excellent boneless Hainanese chicken, bright interiors, delicious food, friendly staff Downside: It took us 4 follow-ups before we got our water, even if all the wait staff acknowledged our requests
