Near St. Petersburg's landmark: The Hermitage, Gogol Restaurant offers traditional Russian food in a rustic, cozy setting. Borsch, is fantastic here. Beef stroganoff and dumplings are also nice.

Recommended by our hotel and within easy walking distance we loved the cosy atmosphere and our waiter was engaging and entertaining. (I particularly liked the idea of having a small bell to summon assistance). A good all round performance with almost exclusively Russian food delivered with some style and reasonably priced. they were a bit surprised when we ordered some... More

We went there with a friend of mine just because good reviews from the TripAdsior. You can imagine how dissapointed we were when a young lady at the entrance asked us: do you have an invitation/reserveration. We didnt have but there were free tables inside. Despite that the young lady told us sorry and that there is nothing that can... More

Delightful and excellent Restaurant for lovers of good food prepared professionally and served in a relaxed atmosphere. Do try some of the starter dishes and include the excellent borsht. Since we were a foursome we were able to explore the menu and particularly enjoyed all of the fish dishes. The service and attention to detail were without fault and you... More

We hadn't booked a table in advance, but the sweet girl who welcomed us had one table available. This was near the entry to the kitchen, so she showed us the table to check if it was okay for us before ahe took out coats. Although it was right next to the kitchen we didn't regret the seating at all.... More

The intimate rooms, delightful furnishings create a warm relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a leisurely meal served professionally and efficiently. The menu is written in a clever charming way, which is a fitting tribute to the writer the restaurant is named for. We enjoyed our dinner of caviar and pelemni to start. I had the beef stroganoff and my husband had... More

The interior is like you sep back 100 years. Very cosy and like a upper class home looked in those days. The menu have some Russian classics like stroganoff and borsch soup. We tried borsch (added with duck meat) and salmon with crêpes. Both tasty. For main course we had File Mignon. Good but we have eaten better. Altogether food... More
