If you want to have true Russian cousine with an old soviet interior then this is the place to visit. Located conveniently in the beginning of busy Nevskyi prospect, this place offers true homemade local food. We tried soups, salad, meatballs, pancakes, pelmeny's and everything was soooo good. They even offer the tea in old glasses. And then you wait... More

Kind of quaint resteraunt which we visited at we were staying quiet close. My meal was very tasty. The borsch was nice but not like any borsch I have ever had. I also had a lamb dish that was delicious. My wife had a chicken kebab basically and it used chicken breast which is easy to be on the dry... More

Fantastic food and drinks. Solyanka (lots of meat soup), shashlyk (kebab), vodka (no explanation necessary). Very cozy with Soviet flair. Might need to bring a Russian friend to help navigate thru the menu. Very authentic!

This basement restaurant is charmingly designed to look like a dacha (country retreat) of the Soviet era. The food is inexpensive and delicious, true Russian home cooking. Don't miss the potato pancakes or the honey cake.

You enter the basement from street level and the entire restaurant is made to look like a typical Russian Dascha including crowing rooster. I had tea which is served with free sushki, borsch which was very good and pelmeni with pork and sour cream - very tasty and the portions are big, couldn't finish my main course and didn't have... Beautiful rustic interior. They're really working the traditional Russian dacha (summer house) theme - from curtains to rooster noises greeting you when you walk through the door. The food is mostly traditional Russian homemade stuff, and the portions are quite large, so you'd feel full pretty soon. We came during the "season of chanterelles" and they were serving chanterelle soup,... More

But mostly the borscht. Every time someone crosses the threshold at Dachniki, a rooster crows, and the whole below-street-level place is designed to evoke a traditional Russian country cottage. You'd never know Nevsky Prospekt was right outside, if you hadn't come from there. Huge menu and even though there were eight of us, we barely scratched the surface. We ordered... More

I went there with 8 friends, but they gave us two separate tables (near togheter). Exept of this, we all ate very well and it was quite cheap. Salmon was excellent.

The location of the restaurant is awesome, also the concept and the food is nice. However, the rudeness of the waiters just spoils the entire experience :(
