Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great little bar with a wide selection of spirits. I had a chilled out evening discussing whiskey with the bartender Yoji (I hope I spelled it correctly) Who despite having as little English as I do Japanese struck up a great conversation through Google...translate (or DL translate in my case - try it. It's a lot better for English to Japanese imo) I sampled a number of lovely Japanese whiskies and finished off the night with a great Blend chosen by the barman himself. Really worth a look if you enjoy spirits.More

We loved this place! There was no cover charge and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The vibe was welcoming and the chairs were comfortable and spacious. Would definitely recommend.

If you want to taste some excellent Japanese whiskeys; seek no further! After extensive research about where to get some different types of Japanese whiskeys we ended up here and do not regret it. The clear menu is helpful to choose what to taste and...the choice of Japanese whiskeys is good. Would definitely go back here for a glass or two. Make sure to try their own Pontocho blend which they keep in a small barrel. Pretty good stuff!More

My girlfriend and I ducked into this bar for a few drinks after dinner. My girlfriend tried and loved a few of the cocktails and I sampled some of the local whiskey. Lots of options (high end all the way down to 500yen a drink)....Yuki was absolutely lovely showed us photos of her cats and even let us take a couple of little cat statues home with us (so cute). Her English was amazing made the experience so wonderful.More

A great place to stop, have a whisky at a decent price. Be sure to check out the great selection of vintage and very high end pours! Really friendly bartender who seems to know his stuff. Ask for a pour from the barrel.

This is a small, mostly standup bar in Pontocho (with a few seats in front, if you get there early). You should go anyway because the selection of adult beverages is outstanding. The prices, even for high end brands, seem very reasonable. The house brands...are excellent buys and quite drinkable. Mostly, I want to offer our thanks to the charming woman behind the counter, who not only gave us the address of a wonderful, hidden gem of a restaurant in Pontocho, but showed is where it was. Domo arigato!More

As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome, a place to sit . Within minutes we had decided on whisky tasting . The owner ( I think ) had great knowledge and was helpful and chatty without being intrusive to...our experience. Ambience Lively with chatter from tourists & locals but not too loud. A non smoking bar which is a bonus for us . Highly recommend you visit .More

We liked this place so much we stopped for pre-dinner drinks two nights in a row. A huge selection of spirits for a bar that is tiny. The bartender was excellent and had great English. Highly recommend this place. The Roku Gin was yum!

We found this little bar while exploring Pontocho alley. I liked the intimate interior and the fact that it’s a stand up bar. Upon discovering that they specialized in whisky made it more inviting. We love places that do one thing but do it well....The bartender Yuki was amazing, very knowledgeable and considerate with her recommendations. I must thank her for introducing me to my new favourite drink, whiskey soda. We went to Liquor Museum twice during our stay in Kyoto, and we’ll be back again when we return.More

The prices are as small as the location (about ten seats) but the atmosphere is incredible. It is intimate and cozy and the whisky selection is top notch and wide ranging - almost all Japanese whisky and many U.S. based whiskeys. That, along with a...bartender, especially Yuki, that knows just about everything about the whisky being served makes for an unforgettable experience. If you visit Kyoto and like whisky, this is the place to check out. The surrounding area is also great to explore as well.More
