Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Be prepared to wait, we waited 40 minutes and it did reward. The deep frying was perfect with meat coming out still moist. Suggest to order the large prawn cutlet and crab cream croquettes as additional side dishes, these were divine. And of course go...for the highest quality pork you will not regret it.More

Bangin, but of a wait to get in but line moved quickly and it was absolutely worth it. Slightly more expensive than other meals around but it was delish! They also let us split the bill

Delicious, affordable tonkatsu! Just be prepared to wait in line as resto is not that big although the wait is worth it. Unlimited rice, soup and cabbage are free

Good food and great service, with an English menu. I would eat here regularly if I lived locally. It was also in a cool spot at the top of Kyoto station.

The set meals were excellent - different courses and lots to eat. There was an English menu which also showed how to eat the dishes e.g. when to use the dipping sauces.

We dropped by this place for lunch. It’s is nicely tucked away and has a basement level with more seating. We took the set menu. Rice bowl, cabbage salad and miso soup refills are free. They also give you a sesame seed bowl with a...pestle to grind and then the sauce to mix with it. This forms the dip for the chicken cutlets that come with the main meal. The main meal we took was the chicken cutlets with prawn. Order to delivery took about 12 mins on a moderately crowded day. Lip smacking stuff and worth the visit.More

One of the best foods I’ve ever eaten - melted in your mouth, impeccable flavours. No katsu curry amounts to this one !! A must try if you are in kyoto, have eaten all around Japan for 10 days - this has been my family’s...favourite by far!More

THE best! My partner and I both had the High grade pork cutlet and it was absolutely delicious. Perfect amount of food and we loved that we could make our own sauce - he likes it spicy, I like mine medium spice. Was great that...we could make it our own. The ambiance is lovely - dimly lit and modern furniture. Great service, as well. Get there on the earlier side, as a line does begin to form. Definitely worth the wait though. Will come back one day!More

Absolutely the best Tonkatsu I've had anywhere. I went for the upgrade to the tenderloin, because why not while I'm across the world? The breading complimented the tender meat perfectly in dry vs wet. The fresh ground sesame seeds in the sauce are an extra...balanced layer to the meal. Service-wise, it is standard solid Japanese service and the atmosphere is between a mall and a business lunch vibe.More

We ate at this restaurant in 2019, before COVID. We came back in 2023 to Kyoto, we came back here right away! We love this restaurant. They have excellent Tonkatsu - fried pork cutlets and also shrimp tempura. You won’t go wrong to order any...item on the menu. The jumbo shrimp is excellent and at a very good price. There will be seasonal items that also will be very good and fresh. Service was very good. Location is in Kyoto station so easy to get to! Do give this place a try when you are in Kyoto.More

Good food, but we were bypassed on several of the additions for the menu , presumably because we were tourists, The tables around us were served pickles and sesame seeds to grind down prior to the meal and we just got the most basic elements...of our set meal. I enjoyed the food, but it was a bit off putting to be served differently without even giving us a chance. I’ve been to Japan a number of times now and was surprised given the absence of tourists for 2.5 years. I expected my business to actually be wanted rather than tolerated. Give them a chance, but don’t be surprised if you get the same experience if you are a Westerner.More

We chose to have lunch at Katsukura when embarking from our Shinkanzen ride, as the restaurant is basically located within the train station. Having many places to choose from within the location, did we settle for Katsukura based in its numerous positive reviews online. We...had to wait a fair bit, as the place proved equally popular among Japanese as well as tourists, but the wait was worth it. We had a kind of fried chicken dish with unusual salad garnishing and an even more unusual sauce. It really seems hard to describe, as we are talking about fried meat, but the Japanese really are good at giving their dishes a special flavor and touch. I still do not know what kind of drink it was they served there, but it was terrible. Rather get a beer or soda - other than that it really is a good place to have lunch at!More

This restaurant is located high up on the 11th floor of the Kyoto Station Building in the Cube. I was unfamiliar with the breaded cutlets as part of Japanese cuisine but have seen them around everywhere so we finally went to a place that specializes....This did not disappoint. The service was very professional and food was prepared in a timely fashion. The pork set comes with barley rice, cabbage, and miso soup. As mentioned in previous reviews, you grind your own sesame seeds and mix with the table sauces to create a dipping sauce for the pork cutlet. The house pickles are quite delicious and they are available for purchase if you want to bring some home. Moderately priced but decent value. I would definitely recommend.More

We ordered a tenderloin Pork Tonkatsu set, which came with Refill Miso soup, Barley Rice & Salad. The pork is very Juicy & Tender. The price is very reasonable as well for this delicious pork. We also ordered a deep fried egg, the egg wrap...in crispy and cheese coating. It is very Delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful, most of them speak english as well. So it’s easy for us to order. Very recommend this restaurant for their Tonkatsu.More
