I have eaten here several times over the years, since the restaurant opened in 2011, and the food has been consistently good. You can done by the window if you are lucky and see the Shinkansen pulling into the station. Prices are reasonable and the...More

We took 2 complete menu with 2 different fishes, I don't say the food was not good but the fish piece was really small for the price we paid and the rest wasn't memorable.. The staff was although gentle and the restaurant clean.

Based on the reviews on tripadvisor our expectations were higher. Compared with other restaurants we visited that week, this restaurant served average dinner. There are better options in Kyoto (with comparable prices).

Good quick lunch on level ten of the train station. My fish was perfectly cooked, not overdone. The set is $18 per person which includes miso , dumplings , pickles and tea. Very decent for a mid range quick meal. also service was attentive.

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi
Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist
attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens,
temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for
strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine
itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the
mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers,
picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the

Sweet Saikyo-zuke dish with a nice view from the 11th floor Located in Kyoto Station Building, this restaurant offers traditional fish dishes. Their popular main dish is called "Saikyo-zuke" set, the fish or pork marinated in sweet Kyoto style. Saikyo miso is mainly used in the Kansai area, the south part of Japan and has a sweet taste whereas regular miso used in the Kanto region such as Tokyo, Chiba and Saitama has more salty taste. This sweet Saikyo miso goes very well with fish such as Spanish mackerel, cod . Since this restaurant is on the 11th floor, there is an open view toward the Hachijo-guchi area which is the opposite side of the main Kyoto station area where the Kyoto Tower is located. You can look out over Toji temple from this restaurant and all the train lines are just in front of you. Therefore, you may enjoy both the fine taste of sweet Saikyo-zuke dish and the nice view at the same time!
