My wife and I celebrated our 37th anniversary there in early January. We decided to go with the smorgasbord because it offered many of our favorites and we were not disappointed. The staff was attentive, the food hot and tasty, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It's one of our favorite places.

I had heard of this place before and always wanted to try it. A traffic backup on I-5 provided the opportunity and it was a fortunate turn of events. The restaurant is located in downtown Albany with ample street parking nearby. The building is quaint warm, and cozy. Staff is friendly and helpful. I usually don't rave about "home cooking"...if... My husband I have been eating at Novak's almost weekly since we moved to Albany, in June. The food is authentic and reminds me of the food family members made back in NY. The wait staff is friendly and professional. Thanks for a great dining experience.

We've enjoyed a couple of meals at Novak's and love the decor and feel of their newest location. The food is some of the best ethnic food we've tasted. My non-adventurous husband absolutely loves this place! We enjoyed the Besci Szelet and the Chicken Paprikas. I think the best compliment we could offer Novak's is the fact that we bought... More

Having never eaten Hungarian food, we gave the small buffet a try. Super sweet waitress walked us through the choices and even gave us a free Hungarian fry bread as a welcome. We definitely left there full and wanting to make a return to sample the amazing desserts they have.

Novaks is great Hungarian food. If you go mid week they have a buffet where you can try several dishes like rolled cabbage. Service is always good

I tried the Beef Porkolt. Tasted of an authentic Beef Burgundy that I make at home. The meat was tender and tasty and then it was served over a bed of spaetzle which reminded me of miniature dumplings. The serving was very generous and filling. Authentic hungarian food with great service, too. We even got a free Langos, or fried... More

My fiance and I had dinner with some friends at Novak's last night. It was fantastic, excellent service, comfy atmosphere and delicious food! I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu, it was panko crusted with a delicious ham and cheese filling. The flavor was fantastic and it was hot (temperature), which I love! The mashed potatoes were creamy and the gravy... More

My father-in-law was born in Hungary and he often made dishes like goulash and chicken paprikas. I have never found a good restaurant that was true to the original recipes and ingredients. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and the experience authentic. It is a must visit when in Albany.
