Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The home of the 72 oz free steak, just looking at it made me full! We did have the pleasure of seeing one of four men complete the meal and learned of a little lady that ate two in fourteen minutes. All that aside, great...food! The steak was well seasoned and cooked to perfection: delicious rolls. We had some entertainment while we waited and had fun singing with the man. They have a bakery with superb red velvet cupcakes. (Fudge as well but I didn’t try that). They also have a gift shop.More

Full of atmosphere, it's a great place for a fun evening. The decor is great, and the food was really great too. Had a 24oz ribeye which was delicious. Well worth a visit!

The Big Texan has an outstanding atmosphere. The prime rib , baked beans and sweet potato, bread and service were excellent.

The food doesn't taste the same. The beans weren't packed correctly. I noticed a homosexual drug addict with it's nose plugged. Like he had a hole in the roof of his mouth.

Was here 8 years ago and it was amazing! All I've done is say I want to go back. Boy what a mistake that was! Got treated by the server like we were an inconvenience that we were there! People seated after us got served...before us. Forgot part of our order. AND THE WORST OF ALL! EVERYTHING CAME OUT ON ONE PLATE AND WE HAD TO FIGURE OUT WHO GOT WHAT!!! Then all the fixings came in tiny plastic containers instead of on the food. Then when they brought what was forgotten it was place slapped down on the table with no regard for what they put it on top of! If you're going to go... for for the atmosphere and not the food anymore!!More

I learned about this place about 45 years ago & just got around to visiting. They are famous for giving you a free 72-ounce steak meal if you can eat all of it in an hour. 45 years ago, I was ready to do the...challenge. But now that I am 66, I don't think it would be wise to do it. We did have somebody start the challenge while we were there. But we left before the hour was up. We don't think he made it. This is a one-of-a-kind place that you have to see to believe. If you are ever in Amarillo, you should stop just to see the place even if you don't eat anything.More

This was a fun place to have dinner. We didn't have reservations but the wait was short. Lots of things to look at while we waited. Gift shop and shooting gallery plus more. The meal was great but I must warn you the portions are...very large. If you can eat a 72 oz steak and all the sides your meal is free!More

If you are passing thru with kids, then yes you should come visit this place, but if you are hungry and want a good steik, this is not for you. Ours were pretty dry and mediocre but our friend's T Bone steak that cooked medium...was the toughest steak he ever had. Couldn’t even eat half of it because it was so tough.More

We made reservations but still had to wait behind 10 people trying to get a table. We waited about 7-10 minutes before our waitress arrived. We ordered an appetizer which never arrived. Our steaks came out barely warm. We spoke with a manager. We did...not take the prime rib home but I took the ribeye and baked potato. They gave us a free piece of cake. We were so excited to go to the Big Texan and now we are so disappointed in the whole experience. And it was date night! Bummer.More

This is one of my favorite steak places ever. We choose to drive from Wisconsin to Arizona specifically to stop here and yesterday you proved why yet again. Let me explain… First of all, they remembered me and I had only been there one time…a...year ago. Our waitress, from a year ago, came over and said hi. They treated my granddaughter and son extra special, giving them cowboy/girl hats, and my granddaughter got a bottle shaped like a “boot.” Thank you Harmony for amazing, personal service. We felt like so much more than just another table, she made us feel like her ONLY table! Did I mentioned that we were serenaded by the cowboy troubadour? We got to hear Johnny Cash tunes and he even tried to engage with my granddaughter by playing Old McDonald, and while the adults loved it, we apologize that she was a bit of a party pooper. We’re heading back home in a week and we cannot wait to stop again. My daughter in law even said, “if we can stop here on the way back, I’ll pay!” That’s how much they loved it! Thank you for a nice break on a long day of travel. We didn’t feel like customers, we felt like family and while I didn’t say anything about the food, it is nothing short of spectacular. The steaks are so good, nobody even thought to ask for steak sauce. Highly recommend!More

This steakhouse is s definitely geared towards tourists but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Big Texas Steak Ranch. The adjacent hotel looks like the main street from an old western, and working our way to the restaurant, we passed a shooting gallery, a...gift shop, and a bakery.  The restaurant is lined with dozens of mounted heads of elk, moose, deer, and a huge longhorn. Steaks are their specialty, and the smell of well cooked beef really tempted us, but we behaved ourselves. I had the grilled salmon with a sweet potato and broccoli. My husband had sides of vegetables and a baked potato. The food was great and the service was excellent.  Danielle was especially helpful and attentive! We absolutely loved our experience there.More

We were primarily in Amarillo to visit this restaurant, as we had friends over from the UK. On the first night the food was good but the service was terrible, which gave us doubts about going back for the 2nd night. We did, though. The...next visit was so much better. The food was as good as normal, but the service received was excellent, which made the visit worthwhile.More

Steak was very good as well as the sweet potato. Everything else was just ok. Our waiter was excellent. But they definitely need to work on the seating process. They send out a mass text, NOT to 2 or 3 groups, but at least 10...groups or more to be seated at once. So then you have to wait in the line to be seated - And then the wait can be ever longer because of confused, disgruntled people who are told they have to wait in the line even though they received the text to be seated. Don’t recommend if you don’t have any patience.More

The atmosphere is fun for families and seemingly a must stop when passing through Amarillo. The food was mediocre though. Our steaks were WAY overcooked and mine was even cold. My husband sent his back and actually got a medium, warm steak like originally ordered....I didn’t send mine back but should’ve. We sat on the 2nd floor and had a perfect view of the steak challengers which the kids loved.More
