Every Wednesday evening there is live music on the main square in Manaus. And Gisela has a soup stall at the event. Here I tried the Tacaca (pronounced Taka'ka) for the first time. A strange but nice taste. I believed it was authentic :)

There is absolutely nothing here to draw you in except the food. It is a walk up, order and go sit in the square end enjoy your soup. I'd never tried this dish until recently, but I was hooked. The chef uses great, fresh shrimp,...More

Very friendly owners who make you feel at home or comfortable. Limited menu but fish and soups are good. Sit on the street if weather permits. Across from the Teatro. Try to attend a teatro preformance if you can. 8pm sharp. Late arrivals are not...More

"Tacacá da Gisela" is a small stand on Largo de São Sebastião, very near the Teatro Amazonas. They only sell tacacá and you can sit on street benches or drink it standing up. Service is fast and trouble free. Just order a tacacá and accept...More

We got it without the tapioca paste on the bottom. It's super fun to eat the Jambu which makes your mouth slightly numb!

The tacaca is good. Sour and numb your tongue. But 18 BRL for street stall food is overpriced, or they charged us higher because we are tourist. For the same price you can have the exact same soup in a nice restaurant, the Choupana.

We had the local dish out of cutiosity. It was nice to try, but will not have it again, as it was not my taste. It seems well done. I paid R$17 for a bowl of the soup.

Very friendly staff and just delicious soup. The broth is really tasty, a tangy sweet and sour soup with manioc starch (this might look a bit strange but just stir it until it dissolves to thicken the soup), small shrimp and a local herb that...More

Very good experience to try a local dish similar to a soup that has shrimp and local herbs that make your tongue numb. Located at a plaza where you can enjoy the view of the opera House.
