Great little bar in Santa Teresa that feels very real, always busy and full of locals. I would highly recommend trying the oxtail it is simply delicious. Ask for the Helles beer it's not on the menu and is superb. Finally be prepared to wait on the weekend but order snacks and enjoy waiting in the sunshine. Overall great Brazilian... More

Very good food for bringing gringos but also for locals. Food is not incredible, but very good. The feijoada is a classic.

There's nothing to talk about this bar which has been serving food and drinks for years. We live close to Santa Teresa and it was holiday. So the mood striked to go and enjoy some food very different and country like delicious. Sometimes you have to wait in line to get the table if it's a big group of people... More

A nice bar to visit if in Santa Teresa. We were there on a Friday afternoon and the place was packed. Ordered four dishes, only three arrived, two of which were not what we ordered!! This was sadly hilarious; we kept the dishes we hadn't ordered as they were actually quite tasty. Would recommend, only 3 stars due to the... More

Tucked away on the streets of Santa Teresa district, it is good, wholesome food but might be considered unusual to British/European tastes. Take the historic tram from the centre (near the pyramid cathedral) R4 return, and follow the unused tramlines almost to the door but have a map. Not for late at night, so they say.

This restaurant is very cute. We ordered the fejoida for 2 ppl and some caipirinhas. For dessert, we had the dulce de leche with cheese. Every single thing was delicious.

Our guide took us here for lunch and it was excellent! We had to wait a while for a table as this place is very popular. We had a beer while we waited and took in the quirky collection of objects that donned the interiors. We had our first feijoada here and it was yummy! It's a heavy meal so... More

The formula hasn't changed in decades and why should it, when it's so good. Simple decor, tightly packed tables and good, traditional cuisine. The queue spills onto the pavement and you put your name with the manager. Grab a drink from the bar and maybe order some savoury pastries to snack on whilst you wait (ours was around 40 minutes).... We decided to come here to eat because our guide advised us to do so if we wanted to eat one of the best feijoadas in Rio and he was right! Excellent meal, feijoada served with rice, farofa, green cabbage and some orange slices. We drank an excellent caipirinha together with our meal. Honest price (less than 100$R in 2... More

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
