This place was pretty awesome. I don't speak Portuguese and they speak very little English but we were able to order a range of tasty food from chicken to some sort of pot of meats and beans to steak, fries, rice... everything that came out...More

Went here to try the feijoada as recommend by the guy who works at our hostel. Not exactly back packer prices (about $100R for 'feijoada for 2' and one beer), but cheap in comparison to others! Really enjoyed the dish, huge servings, really tasty!

Two of us ordered sirloin steak, incredible bad quality, a grub, almost like dog food. Plates returned to kitchen nearly as they came. My son ordered salmon, OK, but completely overpriced. My wife was the only lucky one, sth. deep-fried, eatable. Terrible, you better stay...More

Great little bar in Santa Teresa that feels very real, always busy and full of locals. I would highly recommend trying the oxtail it is simply delicious. Ask for the Helles beer it's not on the menu and is superb. Finally be prepared to wait...More

Very good food for bringing gringos but also for locals. Food is not incredible, but very good. The feijoada is a classic.

There's nothing to talk about this bar which has been serving food and drinks for years. We live close to Santa Teresa and it was holiday. So the mood striked to go and enjoy some food very different and country like delicious. Sometimes you have...More

A nice bar to visit if in Santa Teresa. We were there on a Friday afternoon and the place was packed. Ordered four dishes, only three arrived, two of which were not what we ordered!! This was sadly hilarious; we kept the dishes we hadn't...More

Tucked away on the streets of Santa Teresa district, it is good, wholesome food but might be considered unusual to British/European tastes. Take the historic tram from the centre (near the pyramid cathedral) R4 return, and follow the unused tramlines almost to the door but...More

Our guide took us here for lunch and it was excellent! We had to wait a while for a table as this place is very popular. We had a beer while we waited and took in the quirky collection of objects that donned the interiors....More

Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local
artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this
neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors
can now stroll through this area to view magnificent
mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th
century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a
former mansion turned museum which houses works by
prominent Brazilian modern artists.
