Whilst this place was hard to find, I visited here for an early lunch. I was the only person at about 11.50 & then it was full with a queue waiting to get in. The menu is in Portuguese & the staff only speak Portuguese so I took a stab at the food & picked a good traditional dish.

This is a small and very typical early 20th century bar and restaurant located walking distance from the Museu do Amanhã. This makes it a good option, when you visit the Museum. The menu is limited, so don't expect an international varied cuisine. Good and very cold beers available, as well as tapas. Access is through a one minute combination... More

Imaculada is a two story little bar situated at the foot of a hill behind the main street in the centre of Rio. We opted for the chef's version of Bolinhos de Arroz, a portuguese rice ball containing spring onion and sausage which was delicious. This was washed down with a local beer and a "detox" caipirinha, which was the... More

In downtown área, close to Maua square, this authentic Carioca style bar will impress you. If you like good beverage and food, along with nice and live music, this is the place to go!

Bar Imaculada is near MAR (Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro) and belongs to a very old and historical area of the city. Not easy to find. Uphill if you are near Maua Square or downhill if you are on the top of Conceição slope. Finger food and bear are perfect. It is better when accompanied by a group of... More

I went to Imaculada on a friday Lunch time. It was packed and we waited 30 minutes. Service was slow and the waiters havê a hard time navigating in the confined space. The location, and good, basic food makes it authentic, not trying to be what its not. Recomendable!

This is a hidden gem in the old part of Rio, which we would not have found without the help of a local guide.... Restaurant/bar serving excellent local food, including the "national dish" Feijoada....... We visited out of the busy time, and it was all good.. This area also plays host to other eating/music venues on various nights.

It's a charming place hidden in the ugly side of downtown Rio. The menu options are nice with typical Brazilian dishes. But the place is hot, and extremely noisy. It's very uncomfortable in a hot day, particularly when crowded.

Be prepared to wait if you visit it during lunch time. It's a charming option to have feijoada in the city center, so, be patient and go for it.
