The best time to visit Fogo de Chao is just before the sunset, order a caipirinha and enjoy the Pau de Azucar and the Botafogo bay at the terrace. Afterwards enjoy the excellent selection of meat, I recommend Picania and Bife de Ancho. If you have other preferences, they offer in fact four different menus, Fogo Gourmet Fit, Fogo Gourmet... Traditional and super typical Brazilian restaurant! The team is well trained and almost everyone seems to be enjoying their job. Which makes your experience even better! The (good) wine is really expensive if you want something good but the great meat taste makes you forget the price. PLEASE AVOID THE DESERT. We took 2 tarte Tatin and didn't even touch... More

Typical Brazilian BBQ restaurant with about 8 courses of various meats finishing with Picannia beef. Large salad and dessert buffet. Went at lunchtime and absolutely packed predominantly businessmen

Me and my wife went there looking for a good Brazilian churro so before leaving Rio. At first sight one may be disappointed that the buffet or the side orders are not as various and classic as in other apparently cheaper churrascarias, but the point is that in this place the choice and the frequency of which meat are offered... Wonderful up scale restaurant right on the beach overlooking the lagoon. Large new building with a buffet built to scale! Huge selection of salads, vegetables and cold plates. Service is superior. Quiet and very responsive. Gaucho guys float round the room with giant BBQ sticks, aka 'swords', holding the different meats straight from the fire. It is sliced off at your... More

This is an excellent churrascaria. The location is great- very convenient to Copacabana, Ipanema, downtown, etc and the views are really nice. The service was very friendly and the food was excellent. Although we were a bit hesitant because it has become a chain, the restaurant was really excellent and provides a great and fun way to experience a Brazilian... More

We have been in fogo de chao in Barra , a brand new restaurant of the rodizio chain. It was a complete disaster and most definitely nothing to recommend. If one knows the service and quality level of the restaurants in other locations this particular one has nothing to do with rest. Terrible service , tasteless meat with no variety!... More

This Churrasceria, meat on Skewers, is definitely amongst the best ones I have seen. Great quality of meat and good service. But probably above all, this place has an amazing scenery over the harbor with sugar loaf in the background. Recommend you book in advance. Wish you a great evening.

Staying in Botafogo

Neighbourhood Profile
Botafogo
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night. Casa Daros, an art museum that showcases amazing artists from Latin America, is a must see located in a historical building in Botafogo.
