I have visited this restaurant for at least 30 years (it has been open for 34 years). The maitre d'hotel Alcantra is a true profession. Now for the possible bad news! The city government has decided that they want to reform the marina totally for the 2016 olympics, and the restaurant has received a notification that they will have to... More

I visited Barracuda as a place to have dinner just before a boat cruise was to depart from the marina where the resto was located. The first thing that struck me was that the restaurant was empty. This is a bad sign and I usually leave but I had no choice and thought it must be a slow evening. Looking... More

I have been here many times over the past decade and it continues to be my favorite seafood restaurant in Rio. It is located inside the Marina da Gloria. It is a quiet and secluded location with a view of downtown Rio. A stroll around the Marina is a nice introduction to the meal or a good way to burn... More

My wife and I had our Thanksgiving lunch at Barracuda and were completely delighted with our decision. I had eaten at this restaurant several times for business and had stumbled on a dish called "cavaquinha," which can best be described as a really tender relation to the lobster. It is served de-shelled and, with an amazing butter-herb sauce, is about... More

We had a lovely evening at this restaurant. The atmosphere was very nice and the service excellent, and the waiters were not too pushy at all. I had the linguine with seafood and there was a LOT of seafood. My husband had a steak which was truly delicious. Very nice atmosphere, without noice. The prices are on the high side,... More

Is a very good restaurant with all sorts of tastefully foods. But what they do best is calamares, paellas and lobsters.

We were in this restaurant located inside a Yacht Club. It was suggested from local people as a good restaurant for eating fish, but for sure I will not suggest it to a friend. The location old-fashioned seaside, vintage but not elegant for me. The restaurant has been quite empty for all the period we were inside. The food we've... More

You probably will never hear about this place. It´s located inside a Marina so be sure to goes in a good weather to enjoy the view. Well in my opinion there´s only one meal that you should ask : The Fish Tridente. It´s a grilled seafood, and you can choose from lobster, large shrimp, with fish, and else. Or just... More

Expensive, old fashioned, nobody speaks English, bad location.......food was good, ok, but it is not worth the visit and the cost thereof. No reason to suggest it.

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
