Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great sushi restaurant, you can’t go wrong. Good service, great drink options and a wide variety of dishes. The average price per person can be expensive for a Japanese meal: around 120 reais. If you pay in dollars, it’s not bad, around...40-45 dollars. I particularly enjoyed the grilled options, and fresh Chilean salmon. The only drawback really was the price. You may find better value, but overall this is an above average restaurant. You can give it a try, if the price is comfortable.More

Isao delivery a regular sushi, and that’s not a bad thing. There’s everything most people look on a Japanese restaurant, however I was looking for a more tradicional cuisine. The down side of my experience was the use of machines to make rice roll, pre...cut of sashimi and specially absence of typical ingredients, such Unagui, Ikura and oysters. Better check before reserve.More

ISAO is a small, family owned sushi restaurant at the heart of Liberdade neighborhood, which is like a little bit of Japan in Brazil. The pace of the place is a bit frenetic, with people moving everyone and usually a line to be sitted. There...is parking in the building and the restaurant validates your ticket. The all you can eat buffet costs around R$ 130 on weekdays and R$ 150 on weekends (30 and 40 USD). It is worth every cent. Food is always fresh and prepared in front of everyone and placed on a self service buffet. The highlights for me are the oysters, fried shrimp and shrimp nigiri. Weekdays lunch are usually more packed, with dinner being more quiet.More

The sushi quality is good and the service is very kind, but for R$ 151,00 you could afford to go to better places.

It's an ending line of options and temptations! You can find tradition allied to practicality when having Japanese food.

...you will feel like you didn’t get your money’s worth. The concept is clear by reading other reviews, it’s an all you can eat buffet. The place may look sketchy from the outside as there’s no “store front”; it’s on the second floor of a...building and it’s in downtown SP, which as a native, I can attest isn’t the best area and can feel a bit unsafe. So dont’t go exploring at 10pm. ;) The food is great and fresh, service was also excellent in terms of kindness and attentiveness. The manager, Maria, was very sweet and hands-on, taking drink orders and making sure we were happy. At the end, in typical brazilian style, she gave us hugs and invited us to come back. The reason I’m not giving it 5-stars is because 1) staff could use further training as far as communicating and explaining that for instance, we could order miso soups, or temakis (handrolls); and 2) at $124 reais per person plus drinks, it feels expensive, despite the good quality and wide variety of options. Therefore, unless you feel like eating until you pass out, I would perhaps consider other options at this price.More

If you want all the three items in the title, go to Isao without a doubt. For USD30,00 per person, this buffet will serve very fresh and tasty traditional Japanese food in the heart of Liberdade. Don't be fooled by the small one door entrance...and two flights of stairs that brings you into the cozy restaurant room above. You will see many oriental families eating there as well as the locals who have discovered the place. This is not a gourmet a la carte meal - it is meant for you to try some interesting mixture of tastes made of really fresh fish. The hot buffet could be improved a bit (presentation at least), but if you are interested in what Japanese food really is, this is a great place to visit. It does close rather early (22h30 if I am not mistaken) so don't arrive late night!More

This was one of the best japanese all you can eat restaurant that I have gone. Sashimi and nigirizushi are made with fresh fish. Hot dishes are ok (I almost did not try them because when I go to this type of restaurant I eat...sushi and sashimi only). Few restaurants have sea urchin and ikura sushi and fresh oysters - at this restaurant you can eat as much as you want and is able to!More

I do not have a single bad thing to say about this restaurant. If you are a lover of good quality, basic sushi, fresh sashimi, and all you can eat then you must eat here. That staff is also incredibly friendly and efficient!

Outstanding japanese food. Overwelming variety raw and cooked dishes. Prepare yourself to eat and eat and then, eat a little bit more. Different from most buffet places, where you can eat a lot but the taste is doubtful, Sushi Isao gives you both abundance and...quality. Don't miss it!More

The place is very small, but I guess that's part of all the experience and keeping the quality. The food is amazing and very fresh. There is a great variety of sushis, sashimis, ceviches and carpacios, besides the hot food: tempura, fried shrimp and onions,...yakissoba and a few other things. There's also frutis included as dessert, bancha and missoshiro. Expect it to be very crowded. As it opens at 6pm for dinner I would recommend getting there around 5pm on fridays and weekends.More

You are greeted in Japanese when you arrive. You probably will share a table with people you have never seen before, but the food is worth it. At the buffet you'll find fresh oysters, mussels, oysters in sweet vinaigrette sauce, scallop sushi, various sashimi, sushi...rolls, shrimp tempura, shiitake and shimeji mushrooms in butter and soy sauce and lots of other dishes. It's not cheap, but good food seldom is. Not a romantic place, but awesome to eat well.More
