The chicken wings didn't disappoint. They were fried to perfection and seasoned just right. I got the salt and pepper version without hot sauce. Enjoyed it all! It is a take out establishment but I had no problem eating in the truck. Lol. It was just that good. The only thing I wish I had done was purchased a gallon... More

We were in Birmingham a couple weeks ago to see Chris Rock at the BJCC, and I wanted to stop in at Green Acres because it was my birthday and I saw that they are one of the only, if not the only, black owned restaurant still operating in downtown Birmingham. If you're a wing connoisseur, Green Acres is not... More

These were as good wings as I have ever had. This place is really hopping. We stood at the side counter to eat and watched as a heavy stream of people came in to order with no let up despite the fact that it was about 2pm. Get the wings with ketchup and hot sauce - seems weird but really... More

The food was good and could not be criticized. The lady serving me behind the counter was a little unfriendly and unhelpful... She probably wasn't expecting a visit from an Irish guy that day!!

I was in Birmingham with a group from our church on an educational Civil Rights trip. We were looking around the area for something quick to eat and lucked out by finding Green Acres Cafe. They specialize in traditional soul food, or you could just call it good southern cooking. Their fried green tomatoes and chicken livers are fantastic, and... More

If you want good chicken wings fast and at a reasonable cost then this is your place. They are the original but there are several Green Acres Cafes. I love the one in Center Point the best. They have a great pork chop plate. I get mine with lemon pepper, fries, and fried okra and water. A gret meal for... More

I must admit... I'm constantly dieting. However, Green Acres appears my favorite "weakness" when I know better! But, I tell myself, "just get back up on the horse!" The place is easy to find. Right behind the Federal Courthouse on 4th Avenue North. The staff are sweet and pleasing. Have patience.... they are often crowded; but, the line moves fast.... More

The Front Desk Clerk recommended Green Acres to us because she eats there often. This is a very small family owned cafe. We had the pork chops, I think it was the Manager's Special. The food was good. The pork chops were tender & the fries served hot. My husband also enjoyed the chicken gizzards. All of us were pleased... More

I can finally cross this place off my list. Glad we arrived when we did bc the line was soon out the door and the people just kept coming. They have fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, fried fish, etc. No need to worry about over-seasoning here. It's simple, plain, hot fried wings. They're loaded with hot sauce, served on top... More
