We went for pre-theater dinner so it was early,5:30 PM,and the service was great and prompt. The Crab cake appetizer was one of the best I have ever had.The Escargot appetizer was unique, snails in sauce served with gnocchi. Since I was there previously they have expanded and now the bar area is on the main level and has a... More

We dined here back in August during the Sidewalk Film Festival and were thoroughly impressed. Our waitress Jessica was awesome, and Tom Saab (the chef/owner) came to our table to help my wife make a good selection since she was having "tummy issues". That kind of care and attention is rare indeed! The ambiance of the restored old building creates... More

We were there for dinner and ordered the pomme Frits, gumbo and mixed fried seafood platter for appetizers and they were all delicious. We went with the veal glazed pork chops that came with sweet potatoes and asparagus, and it was excellent.

Outstanding place! Went back twice on my trip to Birmingham. Brought colleague 2nd night. Redfish, Duroc pork chop, and fillet were excellent - cooked perfectly. Try the crab cakes and grilled octopus. The mashed sweet potatoes are fantastic! Met Tom the owner and chef. Service from Jeff was great. Highly recommended.

Every time I visit my mother-in-law we try to get to Bistro 218. The food was great and the cocktails are very well crafted. Our favorite waitress is Tracey, but the entire staff is great. Especially the bus boy, who makes the coffee, and the hostess.

In short, Chez Fon Fon is the gold standard and this place comes up well short. The good?... Good service (but slow). Classy atmosphere. Food is overpriced when compared to other restaurants in this category. This is not to say the food is bad, it's just not that good judging from my visit. However, it is quieter than Chez Fon... A fabulous little French style Bistro in downtown Birmingham. Weather you go for lunch or dinner the food, service, and attention to detail is top notch. I RARELY give an excellent rating, but Bistro 218 continually earns it! We went for Birmingham Restaurant week. Starting with crab cakes-scrumptuous! 100% crab with just the right amount of crispness on the outside.... More

218 has the feel of an authentic European Bistro. A small amount of tables in a dark and nicely decorated historical building. The restaurant has a real authentic feel and atmosphere and most of the parties were small groups of 4 or couples. There are a few more tables and a small bar, where I chose to eat as a... More

We visited here recently whilst on holiday from England. We found the Bistro perfect for an intimate meal for two. The service was excellent as was the food. A cut above the average

My wife and had a very nice experience at Bistro 218 for our anniversary. When we got there they had our table reserved with an anniversary welcome note on our table. Because it was our anniversary they gave us a complimentary moscato drink. Staff was superb, food excellent and really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!!! 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts,...
