Their pizza is wonderful. Different people ordered different pizzas and we shared. That way we got to try several different kinds. Every one was really good, not a bad one in the bunch. Coupled with cold beer, it was a great meal. Highly recommended!

We asked a local person about good pizza and were not disappointed!! I mistakenly ordered only a 12" pizza, split 2 ways and was worried it wouldn't be enough! The crust is thick, but it was loaded with toppings and was simply delicious.

Was going through Gadsden and tried it. Maters was ranked best Pizza in Alabama by al.com. This was original place. Ordered better pizza it was loaded with toppings not slacking at all. The crust was perfect sort deep dish thin. Dough was perfect.. brick oven cooked so faster than some pizza places. Salad bar was tradition little bar with about... More

Great pizza with unusual way of preparing with extensive amount of meats and cheese as well as veggies. One large will easily fill 4/5 LARGE people.

A lot of people like maters but of recent visits I don't think the quality set up to what it used to be. Especially the pizza sauce that they used now doesn't seem the same taste of good quality. But it still a good place to eat especially if you just want to quick pizza and beer. I guess my... More

We have been going to Mater's since the 70's. When we first discovered this place we would drive to Gadsden to rent video's (the only place remotely near us at the time). The pizza hasn't changed and it is still some of the BEST pizza I've ever had. We always get the "Better Boy'. It is loaded with meats, veggies... More

But the food isn't that great. To be fair, we didn't have any of the seafood, which seems popular here. We had two pizzas, a pasta dish, a salad and some appetizers. The food came out quickly, but after that, service was nonexistent. The pizza is a thick doughy crust, like it was made from bisquick. The rest of the... More

Some of the best pizza money can buy. Oh so cheesy and thick. I like the cheese pizza but they are known for their "better boy" which is similar to a supreme. This hole in the wall biker bar has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. The only bad experience I ever had here was when... More

Mater's is located in a very old building in the older part of town but worth the trip. The place was almost empty on my early evening visit. Staff was very attentive and service was very prompt. Salad was very fresh and a good start while the pizza was cooked. The pizza was filled with toppings all the way to the... More

It is damn sad when there are two waitresses, three customers and a customer has to leave their table to ask their server for something. There is a table of one and a table of two. Pathetic. All because the two waitresses have been standing there and playing catch up from being apart over the weekend.

Thank Ben P
