We chose this restaurant as a place where our immediate family (Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville) could meet and have a nice dinner together. It was not our first visit so a repeat was looked forward to. On arrival, the noise of a large group was much louder worse than the bar downstairs. The waiter could barely hear us or we him,... We made reservations, which I would recommend. Menus for both Avo and Dram are accessible, which is great! Both of our bourbon cocktails were excellent, the food was good, and our server, Max, was helpful and funny. The restaurant is lively, so it may not be the best spot for a romantic dinner. After dinner we went downstairs to the... More

I was impressed with the fresh Maine oysters, the collard greens, the Jim Beam sweet potatoes and the fresh salad. The bourbon and whiskey list is extensive. Great, friendly service. When packed it can be a bit noisy, but the ambience is fun and the crowd pleasant and convivial. I do recommend this bar and restaurant.

I came here at the invitation of a business colleague. It's a charming little pub located at what feels like a village square where five streets come together; sort of emblematic of the multiple small village concepts that dot this area. I was quite pleased with the service and the selection of drinks, particularly whiskeys. The food was pretty good... More

The food is good not great. The restaurant was very loud there was a party of about 18 - 20+ people The group was very loud talking and laughing. It is a very small restaurant. I said to the hostess that it was very loud he told us that the party was getting ready to leave that was not the... More

Hubby took me here for "date night" this evening. I had a filet with bacon mac & cheese. Filet was delightful, same with the mac & cheese. Wine list simple but very good, same with the menu itself. Our server was personable and efficient. Where Avo falls a bit short is ambiance. It attempts a modern SoCal vibe, but the... More

This would be an amazing restaurant if the management could work out the acoustical kinks. Great little restaurant in the heart of great a great little community with delicious food and great service.

We were introduced to Avo by a fried for a romantic lunch. Love this place. We usually request a table outside on the balcony. During the holiday season, the view is stunning with all the white I guts twinkling throughout Mountain Brook Village. Their appetizers are great, especially the pimento cheese and crackers and the sliders. Our favorite meal is... More

We were invited to dine here with friends. It is one of their favorite places and we can see why. The menu is very diverse, something for everyone and every dish we had was wonderfully prepared. From the deviled egg, green bean and pimento appetizers to the fish of the day, fish taco, sliders and onto the glorious Kentucky derby... More
