Looking for a casual and fun option outside of the often crazy priced Shanghai restaurant market, we found and headed to El Willy. Located on the Bund, it was easy to find and upon entry screamed of relaxed and fun atmosphere. We were seated and...More

Hidden away on the 4th floor of a classy building on the Bund, this restaurant is a true gem of Shanghai. Just the view from your table is worth it. Chef Koen Vessies is a wonderful host and a master of the fare served here....More

In a fabulous building on the 5th floor which means the views of the Business district are stunning. The food and service were fabulous, one of the more pricey restaurants we went too but excellent. Would highly recommend, book early to ensure a window view.

The place is not just about Spanish food if not that the staff is talkative and attentive, as the Spanish hospitality should be. We start with the salmon bombs (delicious!) and got different dishes all to share in the middle of the table, all well...More

The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the
world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous
waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts
monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai
International Settlement run by the British and
Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has
endured over time and is now found in the five-star
hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive

“el Willy” cuisine focuses in Spanish traditional, contemporary tapas & rices with a fun twist. The structure of the menu follows the Chinese Yin Yang structure of a meal. All the food is designed to be shared family style & to be eaten comfortably with chopticks.
