Come here for the food, but enjoy the marvelous view across the river as well. This is an expensive, elegant, high-end restaurant. I had scallops appetizer, pea soup, steak, and ice cream for dessert. Jean Georges is located on the 4th floor of a building on the Bund. I had a nice Rioja by the glass.

The newly-renovated space is modern, light and airy. Food is amazing without trying too hard. I especially like their foie gras, tuna with avocado, and salmon. We frequented his restaurants in New York and trust the quality and sourcing more than other local restaurants given that food safety remains a concern in the city. Happy to have found Jean Georges... More

Steak in Shanghai is astronomical! (especially when you're Australian and it's all Australian beef/lamb they're serving) however Jean Georges was slightly closer to a fine dining priced meal then most in Shanghai. The venue itself is BEAUTIFUL! So elegant and sophisticated with a beautiful vista of the iconic Bund buildings framed in the heritage preserved bay windows that line the... More

Located in the vibrant Bund District, this restaurant offers well prepared and tasty foods. The place can be noisy and not extremely romantic, but definitively a good experience. Service is perfect.

we had lunch there on the day we arrive, and after the renovation the restaurant itself looks more spacious and had an industrial feel to it, the tables were well spaced out with enough privacy, we got a table by the window which gave us amazing views of the Pudong Skyline, lunch selection was great with plenty of choices in... This is my second time to visit Jean Georges restaurant with my lovely friends. When we arrived, we thought we go to the wrong place, because the restaurant is totally different. Hostess told us they has been done a renovation. Compare the previous decoration, I prefer present, now is more chic and relax. We had delicious food and amazing wine,... More

Went to Jean Georges for brunch with a group of 10 friends, and it was pretty disappointing. Menu was pricy and food was totally disappointing. It's like they hired a bunch of hospitality kids straight out of college, and said: have fun! Presentation of the food came at the cost of the taste of the food. We had a large... More

We had dinner there after being recommended by our hotel. They were right. The food selection was great, they were able to accommodate my wife who is vegetarian. The service was excellent. The bill was quite steep, but it was well worth it.

I had to book via the official site before I visited. The view was awesome, you can see the Bund. The food was good, but a portion was small. The price was expensive but deserved it.

Jean-Georges, opened in 2004, is a pioneer of French fine dining in Shanghai.
With the spirit of constantly challenging and reinventing itself, a total renovation has taken place in late 2015.
We are now excited to announce the completion of the renovation with brand new bar, lounge, dining room, private room and open kitchen.
We look forward to welcoming you back from 1st , April 2016 for a unique experience.

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
