I've discovered a new vice in Chao's Sopa de Mariscos. Plentiful local shell fish swim agsist a coconut broth and rising tide of octopus, crab, langosta, y camarones. Succulent and not rubbery or overcooked. Perfectly spiced and fragrant, filled with fresh veggies too. Service is more laid back, carribean style so all the more languid lushness of looking out to... I ate here with a group of 12 people and the food was delicious. I got a perfectly prepared red snapper and the salad with shrimps and avocado was also more than delicious. The owner is a very hospitable caribean man who makes you feel very welcome. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very relaxd and we got served very... More

This restaurant was our local. A 2 minute walk from the hotel, and run by pleasant and charming Norman, the food was pretty much Italian but with a twist of Caribbean and or local. Had 2 very good meals. Spaghetti with shrimp was delicious. Meat too was good.

This spot was very close to where we were staying. We had a bit of misadventure between the airport and Cahuita, and when we arrived at the restaurant, we were a bit scattered. The menu is expensive, the food was poor. And I'm not sure if it was an accident or intentionally taking advantage for frazzled tourists, but we were... More

I stopped here for a to-go meal after a bad meal next door, and loved the food they served me. The man helping me was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend stopping in for a beach side meal.

We ordered chicken sandwiches which was flavorless and was served in white bread that was food for just drinking. It was quite expensive for the sandwiches and the lady was not the nicest. There are way better places to eat and at a cheeper price as well.

The food was good. We also had some caipirinha's, they were really delicious! The prices are ok for cahuita. We payed about 36$ for two meals and 4 drinks.

Went there for having some drinks. The Batidos were tasty but the server (owner?) was so unfriendly. He did not speak one (!!) word to us apart from "4 mil colones" for one beer and two batidos. Not recommended. We were a little afraid of him.

If you are ever in beautiful laid back Cahuita, I would recommend any other restaurant over Chao's. The food wasn't bad. The staff, however was unbelievably rude. The bartender rolled her eyes and wouldn't serve us after we apparently took too long to take our seat. She rolled her eyes and yelled for the server to deal with us. His... More

We arrived at Chao's Paradise unsure whether to have only drinks or maybe some snack too. The unwillingness to serve us and being so extremely unfriendly (close to rude) made the decision for us. We only had drinks and one portion of Patacones, which were just alright. Simply, we should have gone to another place.
