Restaurant's Favourite
Reviewed 26 February 2023

We had an outstanding experience at La Luna. We arrived at the resort for dinner as we did not stay at the resort. As we drove up, the valet staff instructed us where to park. We then were taken by golf cart to to the...restaurant. As we were walking in, the valet staff pointed out a sloth in the tree, right next to the stairway which was an added bonus! The restaurant had an amazing view looking out over the ocean. If you wanted to have dinner at sunset, this would be an outstanding choice. IT was dark when we arrived for dinner but the moon was extremely bright and beautiful. We could see Venus and Jupiter as well as bright spots in the sky. It was absolutely beautiful. Service was on point. The food was excellent as well. It was our best meal after 9 nights in Costa Rica. My beef tenderloin was undercooked but as soon as I mentioned it to the waiter, he apologetically swept it away and a few minutes later a new surf and turf appeared with a perfectly cooked tenderloin and shrimp. Dessert was outstanding as well. We would have come back the following night to have another meal but unfortunately had a plane to catch. I would highly recommend a dinner at La Luna during a stay in Manuel Antonio.More

The romantic dinner was a perfect start to our honeymoon! The staff at La Luna was very polite and attentive! La Luna accommodated my gluten allergy and served a delicious perfectly cooked multiple course meal from start to finish! Highly recommend! The view is STUNNING!

If you go for dinner, plan on arriving just before sunset and having a drink in their sky lounge ( no reservations necessary at this rooftop lounge) - it was great. Expected more of a happy hour atmosphere but serene is okay. After watching the...sunset and enjoying cocktails, we went down one to the restaurant. Our table was ready early and our waiter was very attentive. The tuna appetizer was great, as was the shrimp with pasta ( I chose the tomato base as opposed to the cream and cheese base). Chocolate lava dessert was luscious. Highly recommend the restaurant.More

We chose the restaurant from the recommendation of our vrbo host. We arrived without a reservation as we didn't know they were necessary. The attendant at the parking lot called the restaurant and we were given a table. Our dinner was a little confusing since...two different servers took care of our table. When the bill arrived, it was incorrect. The food was incredible and we were stuffed! The sunset view was incredible. The service confusion is the only thing that prohibited me from giving it 5 stars.More

This restaurant was a great experience. We were recommended it by our air bnb host and it exceeded all of our expectations. We parked and were taken up to the restaurant by golf cart. The service was fast and efficient. The food was outstanding. The...staff is so kind and friendly. We had the ceviche for appetizer and it was incredible. We then had the coconut and plantain crusted mahi mahi for dinner. It was the best dinner we had while staying in the area. We would recommend La Luna to anyone!!More

On arrival we were seated and the young (trainee) waiter introduced himself. He was very friendly and professional but somewhat out of his depth. He should really have been shadowed by a more senior member of the team. Once we had our drinks we became...invisible. Quite a feat considering there was only 5 couples dining. However, things picked up from there. The shared ceviche was a modern twist on the classic and quite excellent. My main of panko crusted tune was a 100% winner. I am still drooling 24 hours later. The margaritas were the best after 2 weeks travelling around. Not too sweet and packing a punch. A special shout out to Roberto who came to chat and discuss our meal. A true professional. La Luna is probably the closest we have got to fine dining during our 14 days in Costa Rica. It was the first time the food was actually plated with feeling rather than looking like a car crash. As a footnote, can someone tell my why everything is served with mashed potato in just about every restaurant?More

Absolutely amazing dinner here. The service was top tier and so was the view during sunset. Would come back here again. Drinks and food were both delicious.

We didn't stay at the hotel, only stopped in for dinner on our last night. I found the restaurant prices in Manuel Antonio in general pretty expensive (same as Toronto (downtown) almost). However, La Luna was essentially the same price as in town and the...food significantly better, the service significantly better, great wine list and cocktails and hence the value was fantastic! I would definitely recommend it. Plus, the view, especially at sunset, is spectacular!!More

We had an excellent dinner. The service was attentive, but most importantly, the food was excellent. We had a very interesting banana curry soup and tow fish main courses that were both wonderful - the coconut crusted mahi mahi and the ginger/panko tuna.

This restaurant is not only beautifully set in Gaia Hotel, a nature reserve, but has outstanding food and service. We watched the sun set as we dined and were fortunate to have Marco wait on us both evenings. He was outstanding in every way. He...also took amazing photos of my daughter and I which we greatly appreciated.More
