The Rookery has a kind of Alaskan fusion flair with great soups and sandwiches, deserts, coffee and teas. Nice ambiance with high ceilings, little man-made rook nests on the shades of the hanging lights and great photos of backcountry skiing & other Alaskan scenics. Shared tables & a true cafe feel. Somewhat pricey but very tasty and not typical.

Tourists aren't likely to find this place. It's kinda off the main "tourist drag." But that's the reason to go. During the legislative session, out of town lobbyists may hang out at The Rookery, but most folks hanging out - enjoying the mellow vibe - are locals. The pastries are yummy, but it smart to get there early 'cause they... More

We stopped by and were delighted with the results! I had the burger (be sure to specify if you want it more well-done than the norm), which was delicious as usual. My friend had the special, kimchi and a bowl of brown butter cauliflower soup & he said they were fantastic!

Burger and blt were great but the grilled cheese was so gross. Lazy chef poured cheese sauce over toast. When asked they said they didn't have cheese. I had to show them the cheddar on my plough mans plate to get cheese for my son's sandwich. They forgot the soup but charged anyway. Go elsewhere. Coffee house with a bad... More

Very nice place to get a Soup and Sandwich in Juneau, AK. Prices are good for Juneau and the food always tastes great. It is my go-to lunch stop when I am on business in the city. Coffee and light breakfast is served in the morning.

It is delicious. The second thing I love about this fried rice is it is DELICIOUS! My only complaint is I asked for an extra poached egg and didn't get one but...here is what is so great about this rice (aside from being delicious). The kimchi is custom made right there at the Rookery. They put that on one side.... More

This was my first visit here. I had heard there was very good food and it's always busy. Because of this information I was excited to try it and made sure to make a reservation. Lucky for us I planned ahead. They have very good reservation system, online and phone conversations to reconfirm. We had the window seat with street... More

Had read good things about The Rookery, but their choice of vegetarian food was extremely limited. One in our party ate the brussel sprouts and salmon chorizo, and said it was delicious.

We stopped in for dinner and they were able to squeeze us in. I would recommend making a reservation if you have the option. They were out of salmon, which was a little disappointing, so we both had the halibut. It turned out not to be disappointing at all! They also had a good selection of wines.
