Do give this great restaurant a try - but book! We each sampled something different - tuna carpaccio, bobottie spring rolls and goats cheese/beetroot salad - we were off to a good start. My husband tried Ostrich fillet for the first time and is now a fan and the soy and honey salmon looked great. I had the lime and... More

A busy restaurant with an excellent menu ... we didn't book but we would expect to as it was full of happy diners similarly confident in their find.

Apparently this place used to be a fisherman's hut: quite a quaint little place - no view at all, but nice atmosphere. Billed as having an African menu and I chose some of the more unusual options, such as Bobotie spring rolls and Ostrich fillet; my wife went for the Tuna Carpaccio and Kingklip. Both were great, the wines were... More

A lovely restaurant off the main street in Plett in a beautiful historical monument. We loved the busy atmosphere (it was in peak season), the ambience (lovely white interior), the service (friendly and attentive) and the great food. Our food was very well prepared and unpretentious. The seafood, tuna and salmon were delicious and the fillet done to perfection served... More

Had dinner here recently whilst staying in Plett. Very impressed! Beautiful fresh food at a good price. Lovely salads to start. We had tuna as a main and it was excellent. Service was excellent and the whole place had a lovely relaxed seaside vibe.

This is a competent restaurant in the centre of Plettenberg. Everything was competent and the food well above average. We were inside and the surroundings were 'nice'. The problem is that for us there's nothing exciting or unusual about Nguni. The owner? was in evidence and seemed to be ensuring that everything went smoothly, which it did. The kitchen turned... Perfect experience! The service was awesome and the design of the restaurant also offered some nice details. The food was really really delicious. We had the ostrich filet (a dream of a steak, grilled to the point) and a salad. As a starter we got some fresh bread which was baked in a small flower pot. All in all we... More

menu is rather limited. Empty apart from us. Gazpacho was delicious as were the well hung tender fillet steaks. Rare mine wasn't. Large selection of wine from the area, Cape Winelands and abroad. Service was slow between courses and the arrival of the bill even slower. Expensive by local standards but not by UK and European ones.

Given the peak period, the restaurant was booked by our guest house - we were very pleased with their choice - nice atmosphere, good service and excellent African food - very tasty. A most enjoyable evening.

We enjoyed a really good meal at Nguni. We all had seafood main courses that were well prepared and delicious. Lovely, simple decor in an authentic and intimate space. We really enjoyed it and will certainly go again.

Description
Nguni Restaurant
Nostalgic with an African flair, Nguni is located in one of Plett's oldest buildings - an original dairy dating back over a hundred years. Nguni's African menu is a reflection of traditional selections like Bobotie, game, biltong, springbok, Karoo lamb, ostrich and other local favourites. With its beautiful sunny veranda or eclectic African interior with its original wood-burning stove, the Nguni Girls provide customers with a unique setting and superb menu. A true taste of the Cape!
