This is a really good restaurant with a great bar. The food is of top quality and superb value, as is the wine ! If you're looking for somewhere fairly relaxed, with a good choice of meat and fish dishes, with some decent wine, then give it a try.

I've been a regular visitor for many years, price/quality is superb. Wine list likewise. If you want to have a casual dinner just GO THERE! Esp. Friday afternoon is very lively.

We have been here before and it was our first choice again on our return to Newlands. Unfortunately our experience was not quite as memorable. The atmosphere was a bit flat even though it was a Saturday night, the service was just OK, the food expensive considering it lacked any wow factor.

We ate at Wijnhuis twice during our stay in Newlands. The Owner is very visible, the service excellent but the food mixed. We ordered bruschetta as starters & they were cold but the salads & steak sandwich were good. Whilst no fault of the restaurant when we were there the power failed, which added some excitement to our evening. Overall,... More

I have always enjoyed past visits but found Wijnhuis looking a bit tired and perhaps matching the other diners who were a bit older than I remember in the past. The wine waiter did not know the grape used in the house rose and I am convinced served me a Pinotage rather than the Shiraz that I asked for. Was... More

Had a reasonable lunch here recently, with tasty food and good service. Wine by the glass list was pretty average, both in terms of range and quality. Bottle selection was slightly better, but stock levels were low and we had to make 3 selections before finding something available.

There are only two types of steaks, Wijnhuis steaks and everything else. We are yet to find anywhere that even comes close. Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The biggest reason we keep going back is how consistent they are with the quality and how amazing their wine selection is. The wine is very competitively priced and... More

We walked here from the Vineyard Hotel and ended up as a group of around 15. The restaurant was very accommodating and prepared mixed starter platters of a number of delicious dishes (ordered in advance) including beetroot carpaccio, beef carpaccio, green salad, zucchini salad and lots more - all very good. Main courses were great, baby king klip was particularly... More
