I understand The Grand is something of a Cape Town institution and frequented by Cape Townians and Tourists alike. For me, this is a must see for any tourist and feels like it would be at home in St Tropez, Ibiza, South Beach Miami or the Caribbean. It is essentially an old beach warehouse building that has been turned into... More

Took a bunch of local teenagers and they loved it, but that was because they had little interest in the food as they were much more interested in the whole party scene. And that is what this place is about. Forget the food, its average and over-priced (by South African standards). But the music is loud and the under 25s... More

Great setting, especially for sundowners; unusual to have a restaurant AND bar on a Cape Town beach - very refreshing; crammed seating; Good food; Non-existent service - if you can find a waiter, good luck on them actioning your order/request - they probably won't even look interested, as with us.

I was initially swept up by the amazing decor and impressive space of Grand, only to be brought quickly back to the ground by the poor service and food. Although there were a lot of waiting staff around they seemed very disorganised and inattentive. Separation between the bar staff and waiters was confusing and I waited 30 minutes to receive... We went for dinner, good idea to make a reservation as the venue is always full. The restaurant has a rustic feel about it with some interesting touches. There is a great vibe there, very cosmopolitan. The food was very good but for locals, i think it is a bit over-priced. The views are spectacular and we had a knowledgeable... More

My fav place in cpt. Best spot and great food. They used to have a fantastic service too. Yes used to as I have ended up going there twice the past week and we had twice an issue with the cash handling. First of all my sis who was visiting paid cash and the waiter never came back with the... More

Its a very Big place so it's not for a romantic lunch or dinner but it's wonderfully lively and that's what we were looking for. Food is good and service as well. Surroundings as perfect for farm days even when wind blows? I can for sure recommend this place for the atmosphere food and surroundings.

I organised for my two of my Meetup food Dining Out groups, The Friday Lunch Club and First Tuesdays, for lunch and dinner respectively at The Grand. For both functions, (for lunch we had 17 members and for dinner 30 members), our tables were appropriately set up and awaited our arrivals. It is a majestic location and even for the... More
