Superb all round. Attention to detail, service and overall experience were outstanding. Kevin has to be the finest waiter to have served us - his attention to all of us was exceptional. Food was great and the little extra's very much appreciated. Needless to say,...More

The Mount Nelson Hotel is classic Cape Town. Owned by the Sea Containers group (now name-changed to the more attractive 'Belmond') it's wonderfully evocative 'Cape Colony' restaurant changed name and design to become 'The Planet'. In so doing it lost it's charming identity and entered...More

Had drinks on the Mount Nelson's beautiful terrace overlooking the hotel gardens, before dinner in the wonderful Planet restaurant. The waiter Sim was very attentive and took good care of us. Drinks menu was extensive and prices OK given the service and luxurious setting. Recommended,...More

We had lunch here and even though we ordered sandwiches, the presentation was as elegant as if we were having a gourmet meal! We ate on the terrace in the sun and it was a perfect setting. The price was of course much higher than...More

The reception was friendly and the ambiance stylish but relaxed which was complimented by the fabulous piano music in the back ground. The menu was interesting and our dishes full of surpises. The portions were rather small but enjoyable. They have an excellent wine list.

We had hoped this would be one of our better dinners in Cape Town but sadly it was not to be. On arrival we were told that they had had electricity issues so there was a reduced menu. I realise that the power problem may...More

Dear Client, Thank you for your review and we understand your frustration. Unfortunately the power failure effected our systems, computers etc, and the hotel was running at 100% occupancy. We tried our utmost best to accommodate all our clients over this stressful time. We apologize...More

Overall a very nice restaurant. We sat inside. The food was great and service very good. The menu had a selection of a couple of meat/fish and vegetarian options.

I have given Planet many visits, the last of which served Tableside Caesar Salad into which they did not season with garlic at all and which was consequently not a proper Caesar and quite tasteless. Ok, so that's their take on it.....but try and go...More
