We've eaten here a number of times in our sojourns to Buenos Aires. When you enter, especially a lunch, it can be a bit confusing, as there's one line of people (usually workers) getting carry out ( I think it was on the left). The line on the right is to be seated, where a waiter takes your order. I... More

Busy place for a reason. The pizza is great and the empanadas were the best we had in BA in our month log stay. Great atmosphere and the prices are cheap. Don't expect great service but the food is fast once you have ordered. We also went there several times for take away. If you come after 8:30 expect a... More

We went to are recommendation of friends. Location in Barrio Norte OK.The place was half empty still,630pm,lunch in Argentina really...The pizza is very Argentinian, thick with a lot of cheese, lightly salted and no hot spices. Could be eaten however was not the best we had. But the service was terrible. People were standing up and leaving after being ignored for a... More

The local has the charm of ancient places, where time seems not to pass. The pizza is just excellent. A must place in Buenos Aires

Fun pizza restaurant. Prettt busy on a Friday night but the line goes pretty quick. Friendly service. Argentinian style pizzas covered in wads of mozerella. Yum. Really really enjoyed the 'Atomic' - the spicy sausage and tabasco really complemented the salty olives and the sweet peppers. So much flavour in one slice. I can feel my taste buds wanting more... Visiting this pizzeria was an interesting experience. A local friend took me here to try the pizza. He explained the history behind it. Not only the pizza is amazing but the decor is so unique that i enjoyed the experience. Had local beer called Patagonia. Service was good. Went there around 8pm and was able to find a table. By... Ended up here mid-December after a walking tour on recommendation of another traveler I'd met days earlier. It was totally worth it to seek this place out. I went twice. My first time, I was with friends, and we dined in, having pizza slices. SO good! I ordered an chicken empanada on the way out. Also...SO good! So good, in... More

Their popularity is well-deserved. The night I went with friends the line was too long (and this is a large, casual restaurant). We went in and got them to go and ate them on the street. Their roquefort/ham empanada was really great. All types are bigger than most. Easily the best I have had in Argentina. The man at the... More

I have tried some very good pizzas in Buenos Aires and this place is one of my favorites. (Not my favourite though) The restaurant is quite traditional and old with all signed pictures and uniforms. (One of which is by Diego Maradona) It is very crowded though, being highly rated and so loved by the citizens... Be sure to eat... More

A noisy, crowded, popular joint full of locals, has a nice vibe but the pizza is disappointing. It is simply a thick, biscuit-like crust topped with a ton of dubious cheese (not mozzarella surely). True pizza is another thing, and is not about the topping! Maybe OK for yanquis, but only those who are convinced that pizza was invented in... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
